Steve should have def gotten a balance adjustment like making Minecart more laggy and doesn’t start up with SUPER ARMOR make his up air laggier so it’s not ladder combo city. And make his blocks easier to break: decrease how many he can have out at a time. He would still easily be a-s tier but now you have to be more careful where you place your blocks and how you use minecart making it more like ganondorf down b where you have a decent amount of endlag still making it a good burst option but not sonic spin dash with super armor.

​​@@AlexRodriguez-gb9ezI don't play comp Smash but that does seem to be the issue, Steve is very faithful to Minecraft's mechanics, which isn't entirely an issue, but Minecraft's enemies aren't known for being difficult mostly because Minecraft lets you build to complete safety, or you can just trap them in boats and minecarts, and when you translate that to a pvp game and let steve trap people in a moving minecart and build to safety, it becomes an issue. Atleast that's how I see it.

Use the left stick to navigate towards the box that says Super Smash Brothers Ultimate 3. Once the game is outlined, press the X button 4. Confirm decision to close software 5. Navigate down and right to the power icon 6. Press the a button and activate sleep mode 7. Remove the switch from the doc and or any controllers directly connected to it 8. Hold the switch in your dominant hand and face the steve player 9. I didn't mind his addition in Smash, it made sense. He is however overtuned and def needs a nerfbat all around. One of the main things that would gut him as a character is aerial block creation, as even in his original game he can't do that. That by itself will get down on a lot of his shenanigans.

If we were going canon, it would be ridiculous, like, Joker could spam Arsene since thats how it works in persona, aside from using other even more powerful personas with all kind of abilities, Byleth could say no u, since he can rewind time in fe3h, Kirby could one shot planets with his ridiculous power level, Steve could literally become invencible activating creative mode, link could use his final smash (the ancient arrow) we he felt like it, Palutena being an OP deity and so on. And this is without considering specific moments in the characters story wich could be even more ridiculous, like link pulling the bow of light or joker just summoning Satanael, who is for those who don't know, a Persona as big as Palutena's temple. It would be kind of funny to see unfiltered smash, to be honest.

I like how holy and pure people treat the characters. As if banning them is the end of the world, when 99% of Smash is already banned... Smash is the least true representation of a fighting game when played in a tournament. "That stage is slightly slanted! Ban it!" Almost every stage is banned. All items are banned. Final Smashes are banned. Spirits are banned. All rules except for the pre-approved list are banned. Almost all game modes are banned. But a character that is clearly in its own tier even though players are still playing him badly and not using most of his broken tech "No don't ban him! You'll ruin the sanctity of the game!"

Steve would be fine if he didn't have kill moves aside from Minecart, Blocks, Anvil, and TnT. Vertical Disjoints that are not centered on the character are very rare. These are all disjoints which can counter almost any recovery option in the entire game while often having safe out of options or even combo into themselves. With TnT literally being Hero's Kamikaze but if Steve hits you he doesn't die as well. Anvil is Villager's Down Smash. Minecart is Sonic's Spin Dash that leaves a projectile if you cancel it. Blocks are PacMan's recovery's 3rd bounce but on all directions unless you have a damaging recovery. Even his durability system is better then Robin's who has to passively wait. Steve can use any break to mine without committing. He would be fine if these were the only methods for him to ensure kills. But all his Smashes, a lot of his aerials, and some of his grabs are all viable giving him more kill moves them most characters.

I agree with the ban. A character who can just ignore hitstun along with all his other oppressive techniques is not a character that's healthy for the competitive scene. I'm glad they did it sooner rather then later. Otherwise we would just have Brawl Meta Knight all over again, people refusing to ban a character because they put too much time into them.

Well, more like a high top tier ignoring hitstun. That technique is fundamentally a convoluted but overtuned counter. We have some techniques who allow some sort of glitch like Lucas invincibility, and also other overtuned counters like Corrin in Smash 4, but we're talking about Lucas, a Low-mid tier and Corrin was only high tier in Smash 4. That counter isn't innately overpowered, but put him in the same position as Smash 4 Bayonetta, a character so clearly above everything else that makes the meta centralized around him. Is just way too much in terms of tools between blocks, ladder combos, frame data, burst movement and kill power, and he changes the game into a snoozefest. Sonic also kinda falls in that category because he lacks real counters, but there's still ways of checking him, mostly forcing him to shield, and he's not really different from Smash 4 aka an awfully designed fighter from conception (No, making him more faithful will not fix him. The issue is him being way too fast compared to everything else which is his identity seal) but not that overtuned.

I dont think it'll be Brawl Metaknight all over again because a shit ton of characters are viable in Ultimate. In Brawl, it was really only Metaknight. From what I saw, almost every player played Metaknight or used him as a secondary/pocket in tournament. Plus I don't see a lot of Steve's making it that far in tournament. Maybe at mid or high, but definitely not top. The only person I see doing consistently well at top level is Acola. And besides, I haven't seen anyone use that tech in tournament.

We’re all getting baited by Nintendo. They won’t fix Steve in Ultimate, but they will fix him and Kazuya in Smash 6 as a selling point. Then, near the end of smash 6, they’ll add another broken character that they’ll refuse to fix, leaving the players wanting change, change Nintendo will provide in the next game as a selling point. This is all a scam

You should also see how many "new" characters they added to the base game of Ultimate compared to Brawl or Smash 4 (echoes don't count unless they have decent differences). When Smash 4 was in development, they didn't originally plan on having DLC, so they were making all the new characters to put into the base game (for free). However, with the success of DLC sales, look how many "new" characters they added to base game of Ultimate while holding back others to sell for extra as DLC. Normally, a lot of those characters would have been free in the base game instead. Nintendo is giving as little as they can get away with to sell for extra what used to be free.

Take out Steve and maybe Kazuya (you can make a case for him either staying or being banned) and I think Ultimate is by far the most balanced and fun smash game. Without those bans though, I am worried that this might turn into Smash 4 again, since Steve has some of the most braindead degenerate stuff while also having a huge skill ceiling. We did good by banning him, and here's to hoping everyone else does the same.
