People keep saying Kenzie won for her social game. Charlie's social game was arguably better. He was in the dominant alliance and won multiple challenges while keeping a low threat level the whole time BECAUSE OF HIS SOCIAL GAME. People including Kenzie confided in him constantly. Meanwhile, Kenzie was not perceived as a threat post-merge, but that was because she wasn't in control and often lacked agency. It's a really weird final vote to me. There's plenty he did better than her in this case, and nothing she's getting praised for that he didn't do just as well.

As someone who was actively rooting for Kenzie since the beginning, this just felt wrong on so many levels. I went into this episode fully expecting her to win, but the way it happened, the terrible entitlement of the jury, the questions, the reasons who voted for who (or lack thereof) felt awful. Charlie probably deserved at least 4 votes, and I really thought he did enough to get them. He certainly showed some character at the end with how Maria did him dirty

I feel like it shouldn’t even be controversial bc Q and maria gave non game reasons to vote kenzie, which is their right and fine, but implied they didnt necessarily give it to her for playing the best game. No hate to Kenzie. She still played great. But what maria did was messed up. She literally spited charlie bc she lost. It’s so obvious it’s painful. And to know ben was gonna vote charlie. Just not right. If charlie had wronged her in an understandable way it would be one thing. But he did nothing wrong. She just didnt want him to win and get credit for what her ego makes her think is her game.

Anyone who says Kenzie didnt deserve to win, doesnt understand the point of the game and what makes it unique. The best player doesn't always win, but the best of the final 3 always does. Because jury management is part of what makes Survivor so unique. The jury will always pick the right winner of the final 3 by very definition of how the game works. You have to vote people out, then turn around and ask them to reward you with a million dollars. The player that achieves this, is the rightful winner. That's the entire point of the show. You can be a great logical strategist, but if you cant get the votes in the end, it means you did something wrong.

Everyone and everything has flaws, perfection is impossible. Maria without a doubt is a bitter, selfish person, who couldn’t live with Charlie winning because he managed to get her out in a way that didn’t make Charlie look like a back stabber. Maria choosing Q over Charlie was her downfall. The crying over not getting picked for reward, the rock paper scissors… turned a great player into one who made their own bed and eviction. And I think she was so mad at Charlie, ugh, a bad look.

Maria made a huge strategic error by not telling Q to use the idol. Even if he didn’t need to use it (he did need to use it). would have got Charlie out and he would have voted for her. Charlie out and Maria would still have loyal Q on her side. She blew it.

taneishac4116 I read your comment after I wrote mine. I am STILL annoyed they allowed what I call cheating. It's an individual challenge. I also stated Kenzie and Liz should have been disqualified. It was nowhere near fair and should not have been allowed. Then Maria gives her vote to the person who got her out by CHEATING who was too dumb to even figure out the instructions herself instead of her friend who she promised her Jury vote to right after she was voted out. I was disappointed by the finale after a season I actually enjoyed. I loved when Q had them play Hide and Seek 😊

Maria was so hurt, not just by how unfair it was that it went 2 against one in the individual immunity, but also Charlie didn't even have her back at the vote, in my opinion, had he written anyone else's name down instead of hers, he would have gotten her vote. He was really hurt, but, then again, so was she, and in that situation, Kenzie outplayed them both because it doesn't seem that anyone at all turned on her the entire game, even for a moment. Liz, classless till the bitter end, stepping on Kenzie's win moment talking "booo booo, throws tomato, throws tomato" and her garbage comment at the end, I could see it annoy Jeff because he did not give her a nice parting nod or statement, instead, he took his time to turn his back on her for a long period returning the snuffer to its spot. There needs to be a new rule that players cannot help other players physically in a challenge and gang up on another one, that's wholly unfair. Now we wait till the fall for the next season, see you all back here then.

Charley did not plan on a bitter angry jealous Maria. She wanted the power move so she did him in. But that’s part of the game. Out played by rival that betrayed him. Told him she would vote for him but held a grudge.

Kenzie was not the BEST player. Her only attempt at a strategic move post-merge was to blind-side Tiff, which she ironically got blind-sided and left out on the Tiff vote. Charlie and Maria were seemingly always in control of the strategy and ultimately controlled tribal decisions. Kenzie is a likeable person and made friends during the season, but her gameplay was embarrassingly bad. Her best move in hindsight was to become besties with Tiff, b/c Tiff definitely bullied the final tribal discussion.

As someone who was actively rooting for Kenzie, I’d argue that she didn’t. I’ve thought she was the winner since about episode 3, but I thought she’d be in FTC without Charlie. As soon as they were done speaking to the jury I thought Charlie would comfortably get 4 votes and Ben IF it tied. I think he knew he only needed 3 votes because he assumed he had Maria. It’s weird to have been rooting for Kenzie and for her to win and it still just feel wrong. Huge injustice.

Let’s say for the sake of argument, that you are on the fence with your vote and one of the contestants plans to make better use of their winnings and that ultimately sways your vote to them. Kenzie was definitely not hidden but I didn’t see her winning for around half the season. But upon a rewatch of even just the first episode it is so obvious. Like when Jem gives a confessional after the marooning challenge where she says “there can only be one winner” and while she says that, they show Kenzie walking from the challenge. But overall, I really like Kenzie as the winner.

Labeling it as "social vs strategic" is kinda unfair to Charlie's game.. Ben implied tht he would've voted for Charlie to win so it's a 5-4 vote. Only 3 out of the 5 Kenzie votes where based on her social skills as Q sympathised with her sob story while Maria was so bitter that she would've voted for Bhanu if he was the conteder other than Charlie. So basically Charlie was social enough to gather more votes than Kenzie. Too bad that two jurors didn't care about the game (social or strategic) when they voted..

People underestimate SOOO MUCH the social game that was the base to win survivor . That's why Sandra won over Parvati,Wendel over Dominick or Michele over Aubry. Strategy is important but if you had a social game of Sandra,Michele or Kenzie level you migth dont need to be a Omar or Yul to win ,just need to be good with everyone in a point that they want you to win

Kenzie had a better social game than Charlie. Ben honestly could’ve got 2nd place if would’ve took Liz to the end because he was not beating Charlie or Kenzie. The jury reaction when Liz said she’ll beat all of them 😂😂. Charlie failed to win Maria back over and Kenzie told her gracefully that she was voting her out in FRONT of the jury. Charlie reminds me of Spencer but just a better social player.

Yes and no. To me, Kenzie was better at building personal with the cast yes which ultimately gave her the win, but Charlie did a MUCH better job at transforming the social relationships that he had into social capital, which is why Charlie not only managed to go far without ever being a threat, but he also wasn’t a goat either, like he really only needed 1 more vote to win. This is not to discredit Kenzie’s win cause she really does deserve it, but it isn’t as if Kenzie just had a better social game than Charlie imo

Kenzie seems like a great and caring person. Charlie played the best game. He deserved to win. He played more strategically getting people voted out and protecting himself. He won more challenges. He didn’t have to build fire because of his social game with Ben. Q and Maria put too much weight on how the money would be spent and not enough on the game play. Maria said she saw herself in Kenzie so she may see herself winning by voting for her.

I would have voted for Charlie, but this was an emotional jury that didn’t grasp the strategic game all that well. Charlie focusing mainly on talking up his strategy wasn’t the right approach with that audience, and he fell apart to an extent when he was taken off his prepared answers. Maria sucks and I don’t love that Kenzie’s financial need off the island factored heavily into the jury’s choice, but she did a better job of presenting her game at FTC and tailoring to her audience. Again, not how I would have voted, but it’s a valid win and I’m not going to say the majority of the jury is wrong to feel how they feel.

No, I think we all see Maria for what she was at least on the show, I’m more upset with the jury voting on who needs the money more? Then don’t play and just listen to everyone’s stories and reward the cash based on that, I mean for Charlie to not get votes because he is pre law is flawed in the game. If the game was extremely close and you want to use that at a absolute last tie breaker then fine but people like Q saying that’s what decided it shouldn’t be there and are a huge issue for this show. Kenzie literally answered a question by saying she was used as a number and didn't drive votes. She is easily the worst winners of the new era. Also, Maria is one of the most bitter jurors ever. Listening to Charlie's post season interviews, you realize Maria is just arrogant and wishy washy. Charlie played a perfect game. Some say, (even Charlie) that the jury doesn't get it wrong because it's their vote. However, bitter juries exist. In this case, however, ONLY Maria voted based on bitterness. Charlie eat her and she couldn't handle it, even though she was going after him in favor of Q. Maria sucks. Kenzie seems like a great person. I'm not mad she has the money. But I'm super annoyed she has the title of sole Survivor against Charlie. This is one of the lamest seasons ever.

Kay La Fro!!!!!!!!!!!! I just love your updates! You and I seem to view things so similarly on not only the Survivor shows but also Big Brother! These two shows are my family's and my guilty pleasures, but we don't always have the time to watch intensely, so we just love how you give the extra details. I agree with you that the teaming up of Liz with Kenzie seems unfair, in hindsight. I don't think I've ever seen this happen before, so the producers had to roll with it. I do think Kenzie deserved to win it all, out of everyone left in the Final Three, but I think Maria deserved to win it all. Thanks for the Season reviews. You were spot on, congratulations. I could have been happy with Kenzie or Charlie as the winner. Different approaches but I think they both played with their genuine personalities. Kenzie with her original tribe challenges had a tough path but she played it well. She needed to get Maria out but if she makes a move too early she has Maria/Charlie to deal with. She waited until Charlie and Maria had to go after one another and although Charlie had thought about it she wins the challenge and makes the tribal stand telling Maria why she has to write her name down. Winning the fire challenge I think sealed the deal on her hard work.

You hit the nail on the head-- it was an individual immunity challenge. Kenzie who could not even figure out what she was reading wouldn't have won without Liz's interference. Liz and Kenzie should have been disqualified. I didn't care for Maria much and I hate how she betrayed Charlie and gave her vote to the person who in my mind got her out by cheating-- but Maria didn't deserve that. It definitely should not have been allowed. You are also right that this opens the door for people to say ut oh a big threat that we want out is close to winning immunity-' let's double team him/her-- heck let's all team up against the one we don't want to win immunity. None of us need immunity if we force the Threat to lose then vote for that threat. It was terrible game play. Again, I didn't particularly like Maria but she deserved to win 100 times more than Kenzie did. Marie had 3 INDIVIDUAL immunities under her belt and probably would have had 4. Kenzie really can't even claim one legitimate win. Yes I am bitter that Kenzie won Survivor.

I usually agree with your takes, but as someone who loves the game and the strategy aspect, Charlie should have won. Based on the edit, it made it seem like his final tribal was weak, but he said in an interview that he explained how he dealt with and planned to take down Maria which wasn't shown in the final cut. I think his plan was excellent, and way better than Maria's failed plan to take him down. HIs game was very calculated and intentional and although Kenzie's social game was amazing, his was just as good in a different way.

One of the better Final 3's from a gameplay perspective but that jury really was full of some awesome characters. It feels like Casaya and Fang put together. Yeah Charlie is a pretty good Survivor player and wins most jury votes decisively but if you think Kenzie didn't have that jury in a stranglehold you're kidding yourself. Charlie definitely was the more strategically active player but his social game reminded me of Monte from BB24's mistaking of being pleasant with above average performance in other areas being enough to take down the most active likable and friendly person on the cast. And Kenzie had the strategic and especially physical chops to hold more than her own. Kenzie's whole job is gaining trust and influence over people for her ling-term benefit and - what I imagine much like her performance - genuinely loves dojng it. And again you're one of the few channels that one would imagine a theoretical former player feels like they could watch. You give people the opportunity to change your mind.

Honestly have to put the season in the bottom 10, you had a player who didn't want to play make it far, the best player change her game up to make sure she lost for no reason, what 5 players go home idols? That right there tells you the players weren't that great at the game. We even had a player help another in an immunity challange lol. Not a season if you like great game play. Like Charlie said, the best player always wins. We all have different criteria, that’s what makes it unpredictable. There’s no formula to win. It’s all based on who is sitting on the jury and how they feel about you. The show is so simple and genius in that way.

Only person I didn’t want to win was Liz I totally saw kenzies winner edit so congrats girlie on the win and the baby Liz knew she couldn’t win so she helped someone else win good strategy Charlie was really hurt it was sad Maria was really bitter and it was sad to see too

Anyone who says Kenzie didnt deserve to win, doesnt understand the point of the game and what makes it unique. The best player doesn't always win, but the best of the final 3 always does. Because jury management is part of what makes Survivor so unique. The jury will always pick the right winner of the final 3 by very definition of how the game works. You have to vote people out, then turn around and ask them to reward you with a million dollars. The player that achieves this, is the rightful winner. That's the entire point of the show. You can be a great logical strategist, but if you cant get the votes in the end, it means you did something wrong.

Let's see both got rid of their number one being Maria and Tiffany both i believe won two immunity challenges both were aligned with people who helped them get futher in the game one did a fire challenge the other one didn't that could have been the key difference between the two of them

@@thecamishere4344 if I'm correct Kenzie had a hand in getting out Tiffany who was her number one and Charlie had a hand in getting out Maria who was his number one if I'm correct both of them won immunity twice not 100% sure about that they both were aligned with people like Liz Ben and others who helped them get futher in the game but Kenzie was the one who made fire getting rid of Liz who most of them said could win if she made it to the final Charlie took the easy way to 3 by saying hey I don't need to make fire because I have enough on my resume to win he didn't realize that Kenzie basically had the same resume as him

⁠​⁠​⁠@@mykittenisagrandmaster4381Yes and no. From what I heard, Kenzie actually got blindsided in the Tiff vote. She was going to vote Tiff out, but backed out of it, which allowed the opportunity for Charlie and Maria to still take out Tiff and make Kenzie look like someone with no agency in the game, and Charlie played it even better than Maria this round cause he gave her the credit of the move knowing that it was going to make Maria a MASSIVE threat moving forward. As far as I know though, Ben made the wrong move on fire, cause he needed either to put himself in fire, or put Charlie and Kenzie on fire cause Liz had very little shot of actually winning (even though Liz believes that she does win if she gets to the end), like Ben probably does beat Liz, but has no shot vs either Charlie or Kenzie as we saw

@@diegobodegaluis5125 I was wrong about Charlie winning individual immunity challenges does suck he lost but Kenzie played a good game she won immunity she won fire she had friends on the jury even though one of them was only interested in trying to sell his QSkirt invention on TV now he's going to be on Shark Tank can't wait to see him try and get 10 million dollars for 100% of his company

And my comment was in no way, shape or form trying to discredit Kenzie’s game, but I was mostly propping up Charlie and giving him the flowers he deserves (I do think he is the best player of the season, but Kenzie is also a REALLY strong player in her own right, and I’m happy that if Charlie didn’t win, it was Kenzie)

Social game = validate me,validate that I am a nice person, cos I lack the confidence to validate myself and I like to play the victim as a test that the other person is trust worthy and really really like me and wants to be bff for life and if they do not validate me then they are not good at playing the "social game".....yuck!!! at Least Kenzie is a million miles better than Wendal.....when certain jury members regret voting for him* due to his sneaky silver tounge social fame (*due to off island drama)

Charlie was the best all round player. Liz and Kenzi cheated. It was an individual challenge. Maria was still pissed at Charlie for her not getting her family letters. For Maria to be the oldest she showed her immaturity tantrums and her lack of integrity.

Maria was a TERRIBLE player. Charlie totally misplayed everything because he let her get so bad that people played against her. So much so that not one person spoke up during or even said "that's not nice." after the fact. Charlie just made her look a whole fool so he can have a "shield". Of course she isn't going to vote for him to win at that point. I am actually surprised Charlie even got 3 votes.

Amazing season and one of the first times I genuinely liked everyone in the final. Three really nice people. Kenzie was my favorite for the whole season but I do think Charley outplayed her. Maria screwed him.
