I believe the way these playoff spots are being dissected and teams are being dissected, we can understand why the B1G and SEC are pushing for 4 AQ spots each in the next 14 or 16 team playoff in 2026.

Absolutely they have to protect themselves someway. You can’t have teams that play 6 Top 25 teams in one year getting evaluated on the same scale as those who play 1.

Indiana's best win? I sorta agree with you but put Boise state up against Alabama. Put Indiana up against Alabama. I can name more. I think strength of schedule needs to be emphasized more.

I completely agree. Alabama beats both of those teams by at least two possessions. These schedules need to be more even or this playoff format isn’t going to work.

@@TheErawithBrianGregoire That’s why it’s going to expand further but with automatic qualifiers for the SEC and B1G Ten teams. The powers that be know that they can’t just block anyone’s access to the playoffs without serious legal and Congressional intervention. The only way is to negotiate a larger expanded playoff that will protect the better SEC and B1G teams that draw the money while allowing access to the lesser programs. I believe that the CFP expansion talks will meet this spring to begin their negotiations for the 2026 and beyond playoff structure. It’ll go to either 14 or 16 teams.
