@@wheelyflacYeah it’s weird actually. I did some research on it and figured out it’s almost entirely animation-based. The iPhone is more powerful but Samsung’s OneUI animations are better for pure speed, it begins loading the content the moment your finger touches the app, and the animations are super snappy. The iPhone does a smooth, showy animation, and then once the app is full screen, it loads the content. I’ve actually sent in a request to Apple to give us animation control.

@mohthenics nahh , optimisation and speed is generally better on older phones. For example s23u runs warzone better than s24u does , watch latest dame tech video. Only after developers of the game optimise the game for the new phone it will surpass the performance of the old and I know it will surpass because benchmarks never lie. And it's only about time .. depends on the developers

First of all the M chip isnway bigger like the A chip, it's meaningless to put inside the phone, even the tablet can't use all 30W capability of the chip, the phone with 6-10W power consumption can use it even less. And actually the A17 chip itself beats the M1 in multiple ways, even in single core performance and in GPU performance.. what is actually a really big thing, the performance what destroyed the laptop market 3 years ago (when it released it was just 3 years) now already inside a tiny phone..

The iPhone is clearly the best, and the anti-Apple brigade that claims all that power is meaningless, well, here is proof-positive that it isn't meaningless. And when Samsung-affiliated Tweeters posted SSD speeds at 2X the speed of the iPhone, I pointed out that they should stop chasing benchmarks and instead focus on real life. I have seen 2X faster transfer speeds off USBC on the iPhone 15PM versus the S24U, and now internal SSD speeds may be 2X faster on the Samsung, but again, this isn't very meaningful. Saying all that, it is mostly by-and-by as the average user doesn't do this often enough to care and even a bit slower, the S24U is still an amazing piece of tech that 20 years ago we could not even imagine would be in our hands! Thanks!

@Johnassu8 ай бұрын
As always, this is a great test. but here's a some take Usually, almost every smartphone chip includes a dedicated circuit for rendering video, also known as a HW Codec. So, in simple export tests, the workload on the CPU is relatively light. The GPU isn't used at all. Also, the HW Codec in the A17 Pro seems to be a bit faster than the Snapdragon's. This doesn't really reflect the chipset's overall performance, though. What's unique about HW Codecs is that their implementation varies by chipset, which means the output quality can differ too. Even if they use the same codec and produce similar file sizes, a well-made HW Codec results in less quality degradation in the output.(I assume this is part of reason why iPhone video quality is good) Of course, SW codecs typically have the least quality loss. What I'm curious about is whether the difference in output quality of high-quality videos processed through these encodings is visible to the naked eye. Also, I wonder how much of a speed difference there is when exporting complex projects with multiple clips overlaid and various effects applied. I'm not asking you to find out all this right now, but it might be fun to try an easy method for testing this in a similar topic video in the future

But did every one of these apps use hardware-accelerated rendering? If not, which uses software-rendering? There may be differences in the quality of software rendering, actually, there always are, but they are extremely far from being detectable even from experts' eyes, but, could this case be the exception?
@Johnassu8 ай бұрын
@@ThePowerLover Good point. Yes, as you said, some apps might use software rendering. Typically, software rendering causes high loads and overheating, so it's usually not used. However, in The Tech Chap's video, the Exynos-equipped S24+ showed significant performance degradation and slower animation response due to overheating after running Adobe Rush. (This can be seen at 4:24 in the video titled "Snapdragon vs Exynos - GALAXY S24 Plus vs S24 Ultra!") Such heavy loads would not occur with hardware rendering, leading me to strongly suspect the use of software rendering (CPU-based rendering). The Exynos 2400 doesn't have these issues when capturing video, suggesting that hardware rendering doesn't cause such severe overheating. Therefore, Adobe might be using software rendering. This raises a question: Does Adobe Rush use software rendering on all smartphones? I recall a video where the Exynos 2200 couldn't export video in Adobe Rush, probably because Rush couldn't access the Exynos 2200's hardware codec. If the Exynos 2400 has a similar issue, Adobe might automatically switch to software rendering when it can't access hardware rendering. So, it's just a speculation that devices with the Exynos 2400 might exceptionally use software rendering.

@Epicgamer_Mac8 ай бұрын
@@DameTechOk, after a looong time of me and a family member running tests on our phones while using them normally beforehand, I can confirm: there is a very small drop in performance for 3D Mark, 0.8-1 fps for both phones. 25.5 and 27.1 initially (cold) to 24.6 and 26.1 (after normal use) for iPhone and Galaxy, respectively. In terms of Geekbench, the drop in performance was basically negligible (within margin of error). However, while normal use doesn’t significantly reduce performance of benchmarks run immediately after, running benchmarks in quick succession does, particularly 3D Mark. Geekbench multi core drops on both phones by 200-350 pts consistently after a 3D Mark run, and 3D Mark scores dropped almost exactly 3 fps on both. Still more interestingly, my iPhone was still scoring higher than Vadim’s in both benchmarks even after being heat-soaked. I believe this is a combination of both silicon lottery and Damien’s correct theory of heat-soaking from previous tests.

InShot has 500m downloads and thats just google play store 💀, Kinemaster has 100m on the Google Play Store and much less on App Store. Again I'm choosing what's popular between both iOS and Google Play Store, not just android. Filmora I picked because PhoneBuff uses and plus, devs said its optimized primarily for android (plus your favorite Tech Talk used this app in his test). Adobe Rush I picked because this is what's actually the most popular. Downloads don't equate to what's actually being used by real editors vs random people. Adobe Rush is the most used editing software due to its cross platform between PC and Mobile. Final Cut would be second but that's iOS/MacOS exclusive. As for Lumafusion, this is my preferred and editing app I use for every video in my channel. Plus, Samsung broadcast and specifically show cased this app on their Keynote and said it was specifically optimized for Galaxy devices. At the end of the day, I told this to you already. Your too biased to see why I choose these apps.

It’s not that my test always goes to iPhone. It’s just the S24U is under performing. I’m not the only reviewer mentioning this. Check on twitter there are a plethora of posts and tests. As for 4K rendering, the only app where I see S24U winning is KineMaster. However, even the devs acknowledged when I spoke with them that the app isn’t optimized properly for iOS and was primarily designed for Android. Hence, I can’t use that app. Instead, I’ve used LumaFusion that was advertised on Samsung’s keynote, plus I use this app for my KZbin channel. Filmora is what PhoneBuff uses. Adobe rush is probably the most popular app out there. And InShot has the most positive reviews on both Google and App Store. If you ask me this is fair testing.
