Western countries have very generic view about India.. For anything good about India, its the billion people. For anything bad about India, its the billion people. My question why not then 100 olympic medals!!! Its not about the billion people its about with just a thousand or so. Here the #BCCI ensures every player prioritises Test Cricket and the domestic #RanjiTrophy. Look up what they did with Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer! They were dumped for avoiding domestic cricket. Now they’re not in the T20 ODI and Test squads! And then dropped them from central contracts! You guys split your Shield cricket to have the BBL, as long as you keep doing that you will see the closet dry up for test cricket. Nothing to do with population!

Spicier the wickets, the better it is for India as it makes their bowling attack on par or better than the Aussies. Also, the Indian batsmen are more robust and appear more adept in terms of technique, skill and grit to counter the Aussie conditions especially at the Optus, Adelaide under lights and Gabba. In terms of Aussie tactics and planning, it seems a bit like the Indians providing rank turners and getting ambushed at home playing the Kiwis!!

But the main issue is, why the fuck do people bring it up, often people not from India? Why do they suddenly start explaining Indian cricket with a new lens and in a very selective way? What is the point? Of course every nation has thousands of factors for why they are good or bad in whatever. Talking about the population is often unnecessary, and it's always done in a superficial way without any nuances. Yeah, go write an academic paper, and include population, politics, economy, and everything else and how all these variables affect Cricket. But to talk about it casually in simplistic way is bizarre. Because the context is who bowled and batted well and who won. That should be enough. Imagine if every nation started doing this whole "they have X population" or "their GDP is X dollars" or "their genes X make them better athletes." They will take the fun out of sports. I will just add that there's nothing wrong with discussing something like that. But I never hear about any other variables, in the context of any other teams or games.

This is India's first test series loss in the last 13 years, I guess if you lose once in a decade it doesn't affect your dominance or legacy.
