Gotta love comps 🎉🎉🎉 I will say this, the property is very much visible on social media and they have really leveraged that to their advantage in an effort to modernize the property. Even down to adding pickleball to the pool area (because that’s been a trend in the past few years), adding single zero roulette or utilizing Brian Christopher’s audience to make a slot room that draws in gamblers. Or revamping the Carousel Bar to do social media worthy drinks (they have one in a pineapple). It’s the perfect story of taking a place that had a reputation in the 90’s and turning it around. -Paul

It truly is. Downtown is a different vibe. The casinos are smaller, the properties are much older, and Fremont Street can get loud and rowdy. That being said. The property is an older property so there are parts where it can be rougher around the edges. But overall what they have done is made the place feel like a hotel/casino where you are there to enjoy “Vegas” without feeling ripped off. And if you love slots. The Brian Christopher slots room is social media friendly, and they have all his favorite games in there. A lot of other downtown casinos like The D and Golden Nugget can feel more cramped/crowded due to space constraints and being older buildings, but Plaza feels a bit more open and they really manage the space on their gaming floor well. -Paul

While I’ll concede and say that I think there are better breakfasts in Vegas, I’ve never had a bad meal at Hash House A Go Go. Especially when I’m looking to start the morning with a hearty breakfast. I’d say it’s worth checking out if you find yourself near one. They also have a location on the strip at The Linq. -James

4:02 Basil is one of my favorite seasonings. Thyme is my 2nd favorite. 6:21 Have plug ins on the lamps is nice to have. Great job on the details of the room tour. 12:30 So cool that there is pickleball courts at the hotel. I haven't played it before, but I did Tennis in high school. It's kind of similar I heard. Basil and thyme… 2 important ingredients that are not used enough in food. We have been to some higher end buffets in Vegas that could definitely use more seasoning in the food. But that’s a story for another video. While the furnishings were admittedly basic, plugs in the lamp really should be a thing everywhere. Pickleball is a huge thing (even on cruises). You can rent a court for it for about $25/hour which isn’t bad if that’s your thing. As far as I am aware, they are the only lace downtown that offers it. That visit to Pinkbox really redeemed our opinions of it. We have definitely not been shy of saying how we really feel about them (too sweet for our taste), but I think it really boils down to what you order and your personal tastes. Great video as always. The first time we went to The Plaza, we where there for " the Rat Pack Is Back" show, and the place seemed stuck in the 70's, even the people , Lycra, polyester everywhere, the casino and rooms where from that era. The second time, after the re-model, it was different, but the old school vibes where still there, we liked the place, as you said , the rooms are basic, but, that was all we needed, we don't spend a lot of time in our rooms. Not gonna lie, more Lycra is never a bad thing 😂😂😂 But in seriousness. We love this property. They have been putting in a lot of work to offer something new while keeping a classic vintage and retro vibe. Even down to the marketing and their new show Mavericks which opened a month or so after we made our stay which is supposed to be a throwback to classic Vegas. And if you’re a gambler, their tables are great. I probably do most of my table play tables at Plaza because they offer some of the best rules and I don’t feel ripped off. While the rooms were admittedly basic, the value for the guest is definitely there and it’s definitely a place we would love to return to on a future stay. -Paul

Debbie and I love the Plaza. The Bingo room is tons of fun. We've done it twice and both times I won while Debbie won once. BC slots is great too. I hate smoke and having a non-smoking place is really nice. Plus, they have a lot of games I enjoy playing.

I still need to take James to get him to play some Bingo. We have another one night stay at Plaza for our December trip but we will not be able to play Bingo on that trip as we are there for the room and have other stuff to film Downtown. But one of these days… I am going to drag him for some Bingo because what’s more fun than having some beverages, and sitting back, and playing Bingo. We have it out here in Arizona, and some of the sessions do full on Electric Slide mid game with games where you can win plushies with money attached to them and it’s like a party 😂😂😂 -Paul

Haven’t stayed downtown for a few years, and haven’t stayed at the Plaza since the early 2000s. It was very worn there, but customer service was excellent. And I absolutely love Hash House A Gogo!

The customer service was excellent when we stayed. Although the check in is very old school, there were plenty of people staffed at the desk and the line moved at a decent pace (unlike Caesars). The property is still a bit rough around the edges and the room was basic, but it was clean. And you can tell they have been putting a lot of effort into working with what they have and going all in on the “classic Vegas” vibe with modern touches. It’s a place that feels retro but also has modern touches that are very guest focused. On our December trip we are staying one night at Plaza again just because we need a room Downtown and because of this stay it’s now a place we would choose Plaza over other properties (especially as Circa while AMAZING is just too high of a price bracket for a quick one night stay before we move to the strip). -Paul

I have stayed at several of the hotels downtown, and want to eventually try them all, but of the ones I have tried already, Plaza and El Cortez are my favorites. Binions Apache Hotel is neat, but the bed was horrible. Leaning to one side so bad we almost fell out at night. The Gold Nugget had horrible service at the desk when we checked in and out.

Love this video and we have wanted to stay at the Plaza for a while now. We don't stay DT that often but are eventually going to do a downtown Vegas stay. You had us at single zero and huff and puff. Also yes, that wolf can be so frustrating. The room is basic and not sure Abed would be ok with it until you said it's "clean" I can get him to go now. The One Hot Mama looks good too.

If you love Huff n Puff… Stay tuned for Slot Play tomorrow. We play Huff n Even More Puff and something happened… no spoilers. But as for the room. It’s basic. We did not sugarcoat that anywhere in the video. But it was clean. Go into it with the mindset that it is an older property, it is not the strip. The room has what you expect and all the basics, but it’s not luxury. I LOVED the wall unit AC and full Fridge. Those are two selling points for me. But as in the video, there is no closet 😮 - For us who have 5 pieces of luggage and lots to hang up, that was a bit of a shock. I will also say that the property itself can be rougher around the edges because it is older. But what they have done with it is put a focus on the guest experience by adding modern touches like Pinkbox, Pop Up Pizza, Carousel Bar, Hash House, Sand Dollar. And I cannot say the slots are looser than other places (because it’s all RNG), but we did double up on a few slots there and felt like our money went a bit further than at other properties. Especially on the tables. And James and I so need to play a Bingo session. I need to pop his Bingo virginity 😂 And Oscars Steakhouse was phenomenal. But if you do make a stay and plan to vlog it, go into it knowing that the property is older and some parts may look older, but the charm is really in the details that they have put in to modernize the experience while still remaining true to the “old Vegas” vibe that we hear about on Facebook groups. On our Downtown visit, we did both Plaza and Circa and if you plan to make a Downtown stay, trying both properties is what we would recommend because both have a charm, but for different reasons. We will have some videos from that Circa stay coming in the future, but that’s just our recommendation so you can get two diametrically different downtown experiences that aim for two completely different vibes. -Paul

They have really done a lot to improve the place. Don’t get me wrong, you can still tell it’s an older property. But… there is a certain charm that I like about Plaza. And yes… that Pinkbox location is great. While we maybe would have recommended against Pinkbox in the past, I can definitely say that the three we tried for this video have turned my opinion around on Pinkbox. I can definitely say that this stay did change our mind about Downtown Las Vegas. -Paul

Thank you for watching. We have not done a Southpoint stay yet, but we hear so much about it and it’s definitely a place where we want to make a future stay. We have not stayed at 4 Queens but as people who do sometimes find the Fremont Street experience a bit too much sensory overload for our liking, what we really like about Plaza is the location because it’s at the end of Fremont Street. But I know at some point a stay at 4 Queens is likely to happen, we gotta tick off those hotels stay by stay. -Paul

The Plaza is a sweet little decent hotel casino. It doesn't try to be anything it isn't. Even at that, the upgrades and modifications to be more "contemporary" are welcome! And Oscars is one of the best places you can eat in Vegas, in my big dumb guy opinion. I don't like to throw this term around too often but Plaza is a true hidden gem on Fremont.

They truly are. We stumbled upon this property when out and visiting downtown and doing Pop Up Pizza for the pizza video were amazed at just how good the gambling is. We finally got to stay and are so glad we did. It truly is a hidden gem. I love that they went into the retro and vintage vibe while adding modern touches. They don’t try to be pretentious, they are very guest focused, and it’s refreshing to stay somewhere that feels like a “regular persons” property. -Paul
