And the answer to that is "no." Actually the Methodist Church did depart from John Wesley almost at once when they took his "Sunday Service for the Methodists," a careful abridgement of the BCP, said "Thank you," and promptly tossed it in the trash. Only now are we struggling back from 250 years of Happy-clappyism.

This is all a moot point. The congregations that are trying to follow Jesus already left the U.M. Those that remain are religious pretenders, even though they don't realize it. Pray for the opening of spiritual eyes.
