I noticed it also only prevents damage from red or black sources. It currently goes for around $2 apiece (non-foil) & $3 apiece (foil) on tcgplayer, but I think it will likely drop in value as it's not as great as it seems.

I mean it seems pretty bad. Dies to wrenn and six and pretty much any removal. No etb, protection, or haste so is super vulnerable to removal. No evasion so can be blocked by pretty much everything, and can’t play lands or fix mana. Treasure is cool tho, and probably decent in a pirate tribal deck

I put Rona into my Esika EDH deck where the average CMC of legends is around 2 or 3. She's a ramp monster in there that turns into a digger as soon as you don't need the mana anymore and a legitimate monster that can swing every turn and still block as soon as you have no more gas to keep her digging.

One nice thing about Rona is her ability to trigger herself when cast. Not something I thought about right away, but always nice when an ability actually plays well with the legendary creature its attached too

I've never thought to check, could be interesting for someone with the time... If you play draft at your LGS, be happy b/c pre-release is more opportunity to play draft. One thing I wanna point out is how much more impact these cards will have on Pioneer. While some of those cards might turn into sleeper hits in Modern, I can see almost all of them finding places in the Pioneer format, likely bringing a lot more diversity to the top 8 slots in tourneys. I can even see a couple of them getting outright banned... but time will tell. I hope we will see videos covering a diversity of formats, goin forward.

That's not how Surge of Salvation works. The damage prevented is only to creatures, not to players, and Deflecting Palm doesn't target any player so the Hexproof doesn't matter either.

What are your thoughts on Invasion of Segovia? Namely the flipside that gives all non creature spells convoke and untaps four creatures at the end of your turn. I don't know how it slots into modern but standard azorious tokens could use it to turn counter spells into force of wills. Along side casting massive X cost spells.

While Witch's cottage is a reasonable card to pair such effect, I feel that it would not be as good in this particual case, in emrakul specific. Let's remember the OG eldrazi clause of shuffling onto deck when hits graveyard. In goryo case is not a problem, instantly putting it on play. But being on atack trigger, the shuffling effect would resolve always first, right after the card put it on top, making it random. I would also add to Invasion of Ikoria exposition that finale of devastation is already played with asmo and such. To me, this card means 8 copies of the same cards + extra values, which could be mix onto a deck with the hexmage, dryad arbor in case of ramp need, and other toolbox bullets. It's also worth mentioning that in the whole modern card pool, only 4 cards stop the searching from deck explicitly, 2 on dimir and 2 in white. This tutor extra graveyard clause makes both a headache for the opponent.

They said "black and/or red" to make it clear that it works against R, B, and RB sources. If it said "black and red", it might be ambiguous if that means ONLY sources that are both colors, rather than one or two of the two colors.

realistically I dont think you're going to see 8-wrenn prowess builds because having a redundant card of a decent ability still doesn't mean expressive iteration is now worse. splashing for U or W (or both) really ins't a big deal, and prowess never really had any real manabase issues. the only thing I could see this maybe being used for is mono R prowess w/ breach? but even then, idk if you can realistically fit 8 copies of this in a deck and have that deck still be functional. im gonna predict wrenns resolve will fizzle out in interest

Is Deflecting Palm blanked by Suge of Salvation. I don't think Palm targets the player, so the hexproof doesn't cause it to fizzle, and Salvation only prevents damage to creatures. If I'm missing something, please correct me, otherwise gimme that like, baby.

Ehh, not really. You can still flip Invasion of Ikoria if Vampire Hexmage is in your hand. If Hexmage is in your deck, you cast Invasion with X=2 to get Hexmage. To do this, you spend 2GG, or 4 mana. If you have both Hexmage and Invasion in hand, you cast Invasion, X=0 (I'm pretty sure you can play Invasion for 0, and either grab a 0-drop like Dryad Arbor, or just fail to find). Then you cast Hexmage. In that scenario, you will have spent BBGG, which, while more color-specific, is also 4 mana. Either way, you spend 4 mana (and 2 cards) for an 8/8 with reach, with upside.
