The United States military reportedly ran a secret anti-vax programme during the Covid-19 crisis to discredit China’s Sinovac vaccine. The Pentagon launched a covert campaign to "sow doubt about the safety and efficacy of vaccines" being supplied by China. The report, released by Reuters on June 14, said the campaign targeted the Philippines in a bid to counter China's influence. The US military’s anti-vax effort began in the spring of 2020 and expanded beyond Southeast Asia before it was terminated in 2021, as per Reuters. The report suggests that US officials cast doubt on the safety of vaccines abroad while frantically rolling out vaccines in the United States.

Two aspects are important. Does a vaccine work *effectively* and are there abnormal side effects. Effectiveness should be better than placebo or 50% and perhaps closer to 95% in healthy people. Some of the Chinese vaccines had low effectiveness. All vaccines have side effects. Side effects of covid vaccine are similar to any vaccine which are related to the virus itself, this is true for mRNA vaccine too. In short, nothing unusual.

Sinovac uses inactivated virus, which is an old, crap technology. Sputnik uses adenovirus vector, which is newer and better. mRNA did indeed do better than those. Sinovac was not necessarily a bad strategy. Old technology is cheaper and easier to mass produce and transport. mRNA requires freezer temperatures third world countries can’t afford, for example.

i took sinovac.. i rejected moderna and pfizer.. because in emergency i trust old and proven method that use by sinovac, than new and cheaper method like m-RNA. the old method in sinovac already around for decades, so we know the side effect are minimal, and no long term side affect.

If all is this true I would worry for the Philippines in their fight over the South China Seas with China. If Filipino lives are dispensable in the eyes of the USA in the Corvid vax case, then think what the American bases and military support for the Philippines mean. Sinovac has crap efficacy because it’s using older technology. Not necessarily a bad idea as it’s cheaper and timely production numbers are important as well efficacy. I don’t trust Chinese safety but I reckon their lab realised trials in other countries made forging the results and side effects too hard.

Taiwan invest and develop Philippines so that they can be add as another layer preventing your country from being invaded by china as first line of defense along taiwan, south korea and japan. Build a TSMC technological chip manufacturing in the philippines for them to have a stake in depending your country and a reason to recognise taiwan as an independent nation. ​@@leoli2450 taiwan already build a TSMC chip manufacturing in Japan and US not sure about South korea But probably one of the conditions in building those factories in america and japan are they are obligated to defend and protect taiwan from chinese aggression. So developing and investing in Philippines with their TSMC chip manufacturing only gives that country more chance of developing their military which in turn more layer of defense for Taiwan and possible acknowledgement of their independence and voiding of one china policy. It's a Win Win for both countries. Taiwan needs to be smarter in leveraging their advantages.
