I wish we could get ''classic'' Lara back. I mainly grew up with Lara from 2003-2008 so like ''in between'' but i do love the classic one so much. Till this day i wish that they had more time for The Angel of Darkness. It had so much potential to be the best TR game in my opinion.

Considering AAA games have thousands of people on board which also takes many years to develop, having one or two people to work on a comparable production value even if its just a fraction of the length is still very telling. I absolutely have never forgotten this gem. It might yet be the best remake of a Tomb Raider game if only the developer was never alone remaking it. And TR2 is my favorite Tomb Raider game among all entries. As far as I know, he was making the quad bike course and the manor, and beyond that, not much news except silence. I’m still hoping he continues it despite the remaster coming soon. Everything about his version is spot on, a really good balance between modernizing the game with the Anniversary controls and a journal that gives you clues, but retaining some “not spoonfeeding you” game mechanics while exploring by your own. I’m only hoping that this project doesn’t get shut down by Crystal Dynamics. This is the route I imagine Tomb Raider should have been, if the latest reboot trilogy had never happened. With the remaster, I’m hoping CD reconsiders their plans for future TR, because I still didn’t like the ideas they were going towards for the sequels. Classic Croft is still better in my opinion. More puzzles, exploration, less guides, interactable vehicles, no excessive drama, more about archaelogy instead of looping around family issues.

I agree with you. My beef with the new direction of the recent TR series is they completely ignored finding artifacts and using them in puzzles. Remember all those gold and silver keys, cogs, masks from the original 4 games? That's a core mechanic for me. Now it's like you open an ancient chest and learn a new bow skill...lol! It's literally called Tomb Raider...you raid ancient tombs in search of artifacts and use those in some way to unlock new hidden places in other places / continents / areas...

First thing that catches my attention is that they didn' t even bother to improve the quality of those video-like cutscenes. In game the textures make the impression on me like they were mostly only upscaled/sharpened instead of using ones with a higher level of detail Climbing structures don't seem to use kinda bump-mapping-like techniques or so to make them appear like rough or create an impression of depth. Neither metallic surfaces nor wet areas have a glossy/shiny appearance. I'd say that's the minimum they could have done.

Exactly what I have been saying. Those remasters cost so little time and effort for the £30 they sold them for. Imagine if they reskinned Dead Space instead of the amazing remake we have now. It will always be just a level. NicoBass was active in Twitter for a time, posting screenshots of the mansion level and other areas, with new outfits, a vehicle, etc. Apparently, he made this level as a kind of portfolio to get a foot in the game industry, and managed to do exactly that, so it was shelved shortly after. As a curiosity, there are multiple versions of the level out there, and the early ones include a more stylized Lara model with (ehem) way more 'reasons' to play it.

You take the best Lara Croft adventure from the first era, a bit of Anniversary and Reboot gameplay, modern graphics and improved sound effects, music, lightning, give back Lara's iconic look, and tadaaaa... you have this pearl, too short, too good, too bad there isn't a whole team behind it to create a dozen more lvls to recreate the original adventure... Imagine venturing the streets of Venice, going to the opera hideout, swimming in the wreck of the Maria Doria, walking into the heights & depths of the Tibet mountains, meeting the peaceful monks and monsters lurking down there, and make a way throught the hell of Xian, the ephemeral and dangerous jade dream, to confront Marco Bartoli as he plunged a dagger into his heart to become the dragon of legend... But in a more concrete, beautiful and kinda faithful to real places, and at the same time places full of mysticism that we really don't know who to talk to about it. Picture it, dream on it. The POTENTIAL. And of course, keeping Home Sweet Home, as a last stand, in a blue little nuisette... After that very moment, Lara would be right asking us if we don't think we've seen enough, because it we will have seen enough, indeed. Or maybe not. Maybe we'd be ready for another adventure, searching for five artifacts that originated on a meteorite millions of years ago. And that for this we would wander in the jungles bordering the Ganges, then making our way through other jungles, those of the Pacific Islands, where cannibals meet dinosaurs, and after this taking a wide detour through the Nevada desert, not so deserted, because it would hide the famous secrets of Area 51. We would return to London where the queen of cosmetics reigns, through hidden corners, between subways and sewers. Then our road would lead us to research in Antarctica, where a catastrophe like The Thing threatens human evolution... Tomb Raider Anniversary is my favourite game of the franchise, and follows Tomb Raider II/III. I would buy it 100€ each game if their remake would be that quality. Seriously, no matter the time, no matter the money, this has to become a reality. Maybe we'll have a good surprise with Next Tomb Raider ? Think of it one second. Every Tomb Raider is a part of a trilogy. Tomb Raider I-III. Tomb Raider The Last Revelation/Chronicles/Angel of Darkness. Tomb Raider Legend/Anniversary/Underworld. Tomb Raider Survivor/Rise/Shadow. We may have the start of a new one. I wonder if they will reboot, remake, or make a total new game taking from the original while keeping a lot of elements from the others. Seeing the promotional pictures so far, it seems that we are on the brink of a very good turn for Lara Croft.

This game was PEAK. Better than the survival games, better than netflix series. Best remake even possible to imagine. This is the original Lara with OP graphics.

Too bad this project has been stagnant for so long. Everything about it is spectacular. Lara's design is faithful to the classic character but unique enough to be recognized from this project at a glance. The visuals are stunning and carefully crafted, and he captured the FEEL of playing TR Anniversary even though it's on a completely different game engine. The level is familiar to the original from TR2, but isn't afraid to expand the world with new notes, areas, puzzles and platforming challenges. This is one of the most impressive things to come out of the fandom, I hope we get to see more someday!

You can blame the foolish fan(s) that created a go fund me page for him (without his knowing/or asking them to do so) which got him noticed and asked to not go any further with it. Some people honestly shouldn't have access to the internet. They should have done their research. I think he was working on Croft Manor years ago. I saw pics of the manor and gameplay and quad footage but that's about it. I think he's aloud to release that but maybe he's busy or hasn't finished it 🤷

It needs the Interact to do actions faster and the Grapple and some gadgets and would be the perfect TR2 Remake. And maybe some more moves from TR Underworld, I don't think it needs the Sprint button.

It's awesome , but me as an old fan i don't feel like playing unless it's the old controls , when I have to press the button to jump then the other button to catch ledges , that made me feel like a pro😄

Something just occurred to me. The helicopter dropped her near the wall for her to climb down and up and out of a cave to get up on the wall..... why not rappel down directly onto the wall lol

I know why. So what happened was, he was working on parts of the game but fans of his project started a go fund me page, which got him noticed and the project being taken down or at least limited. You can blame those idiots making a go fund me. He never asked for that at all. This was his fan project. I've no idea in terms of Croft Manor if he's finished it or not.
