It is lovely Pat. I used to catch tadpoles where I lived in Suffolk UK, in the pond next door to us. I am 59 now, but I was about 7/8 then. Kids don't do that now do they.

Having left Ireland as a child many decades ago, for the poverty and Slums of Birmingham, this lovely piece of work brought back many happy memories. Whether it be the Old neighbourhoods of Dublin or the bpmb sites and back to back houses of Birmingham, it was a wonderland for us kids. Few had a TV even if it had any kids shows. Computers existed only in Sci Fi comics. The streets were our playground and our imagination alone supplied what equipment we needed. I feel sorry fir kids now

I did chase the horse and car when the jam jar man came to collect and my Mam would get a cup and soucer. I can still remember the smile on the jam jar man's face. He loved it and would laugh with the children. That cup and soucer was gold for us.

I really love this poem and I think it deserves its own music, which is nothing other than the Dublin accent. I love Raglan Road aswell and the tune. In my childhood my heroes were the paper boys in Dublin, I always wanted to be one - they were sometimes younger than myself but they looked so strong and self-assured. The Dublin without central heating but with coal fires was indeed a very different and in many ways much kinder place than today. Thank you for this wonderful video.

Opening shot is the late Ollie bulger with his poor horse n cart its said his was worth millions but sometimes begged he lived in crumlin and owned a lot of property but in his last few years he charged tourists for photos outside the guinness hopstore so the moral of the story is live your life as Ollie never married never had a holiday when you die as a miser someone else spends your money

This is a long shot... But does anyone have any information on a mechanics that was open on Camden street in the 1950's or 1960's? My grandad worked there after he came back from Canada, he has mentioned it a few times... Would love to show him a photo of it, it would mean the world to him.
