4:00 here you can also hear a higher pitched organ (I think) rapidly "beeping". In every Zelda game, when Link is at low HP, a "beeping" sounds, so this "beeing" being played along Zelda's theme references that she is losing the battle against ganon, she needs Link to save her already because she is about to die, or, in other words, she's at low HP.
@TheArcadeLink2 ай бұрын
I had never thought of that sound that way- and it makes me extra sad for her- but also she was absolutely amazing in this game. To hold on long enough for Link to recover and get through all the obsticals. I love these games so much.

TOTK Spoilers: At 17:26 for the Light Dragon's theme, it repeats the first two notes over and over, almost like Zelda struggling to remember who she is... but eventually the theme resolves an octave higher. Almost like the theme is implying that it will only be able to fully resolve when Link finds her in the future, which, it inevitably does at 14:52. Super cool. Also crazy that having played Skyward Sword for years, I never once noticed the references in Skyloft or the Love Theme. Those blew me away.

That’s a good point, I hadn’t thought of it almost like a timeline, B D repeating for a thousand years (or however long) and then resolving finally. And yeah those were the ones I was so shocked by! I love this! I think the Light Dragon Theme is literally the most moving of these! To sacrifice everything you have known, will know, and everything you could know to save your kingdom and its people! Utter chills! Hearing that theme, paired with the fact she is circling Hyrule, just waiting for the time to come. How it's played even, evokes such emotion, she may not remember who she is, but we do. What a beautiful concept. I mean just think, she loses herself and flies the same path, one she may not even remember the reason as to why she is. She just does cause it is what she has always done since the begining of her new memory. Hoping maybe one day flying it will remind her of why. Her theme integrated into other themes should truly show how vital she is. I cant wait to play Echos of Wisdom! Great video Kevin!

At first I thought 2 was just a coincidence, just a side effect of music meant to sound Zelda-y occassionally sharing notes with other Zelda music, but that section being used for Zelda and with Zelda's lullaby made it so clear and so much cooler when I saw that. TotK spoilers: Also the light dragon theme easter eggs at 1 are AMAZING. Zelda's lullaby not finishing to show Zelda losing herself, then later having a faint Zelda's lullaby showing that there's still hope for her in there is so cool. And Zelda's lullaby being at the end of the trailer in the instrument used for the dragons' theme is crazy. They were revealing a major plot point of the game months before it realeased and no one figured it out!

So I had caught all but one reference, and that was the opening of ALttP Zelda's lullaby in OoT. Though I will admit that I was hesitant on the Shadow Temple theme having Zelda's lullaby, maybe because that Temple gave me the creeps as a child, but all the others I caught as I listen to Zelda music regularly while trying to sleep. Also, semi related to Zelda's lullaby, but more behind why Nintendo kept quiet on the title and logo for TotK for so long and why they said it would make the story too obvious if they revealed it too soon....Though obvious now, the logo was two dragons and the instrument used for Zelda's lullaby at the end of the trailer for the original 2022 release is associated with dragons in Japanese lore and myth, revealing Zelda's fate in-game. Hence why they waited until September 2022 for the reveal. Just a neat little piece of information, to which no one originally believed me prior to the game's release.

It's deeper with "Romance in the Air". It's not just hidden melody notes. The entire structure of that piece allows you to play the entire melody of Zelda's Lullaby over it, if you play it with a bit of a shuffle. Similar to Aryll's Theme from Wind Waker, which is designed to mirror Zelda's Lullaby because Aryll is mistaken for Zelda in the game.

Wow, I can kinda hear a part before it loops where that works, but would love to hear more detail. And about Aryll as well.

People, did anyone notice Zelda's Lullaby is the first three notes of "Lullaby" from Schubert?
@ZeldaMusicTheory2 ай бұрын
I’m not going to lie. I’m actually extremely surprised. I did not know about this. Considering Koji Kondo based the drum pattern of the original Overworld theme on Ravel’s Bolero, and perhaps the original Title Theme to Ocarina of Time on Erik Satie’s Gymnopedie no. 1, it is very likely that that’s a legitimate influence of his and maybe even a nod to that piece. Thank you so much for telling me this. 🤯
@Dudeman23rd2 ай бұрын
I'd argue that in order for a quote to be a true Zelda's Lullaby reference, it either has to repeat the three note pattern twice in a row, or play it once completely isolated from any other melodic activity AND match the rhythm (half-quarter-half, or similar). For that reason, examples similar to the quote in the Skyloft theme read as unintentional to me (it plays once in the middle of an original melody and is not rhythmically accurate).
@ZeldaMusicTheory2 ай бұрын
Yeah I think there are things that strengthen or weaken each example. For example repeating twice is pretty strong evidence. Being in the original key could add some strength. Certainly like with example 2 having two other pieces that play with the idea of both themes over one another would add strength to the argument “For” intentional. At the end of the day I have varying degrees of certainty with each, and I’m sure several I included were coincidental. But it’s hard to confirm one way or another and it’s fun to speculate. Thanks for watching!

@ZeldaMusicTheory2 ай бұрын
That was very interesting. I didn’t finish it, but it’s fascinating. I’m not sure if it is intentional or just reading too much into KJV. Definitely could have been intentional, but what I find compelling is not 7th word from the beginning and end being Jesus, but things like prophesies fulfilled hundreds of years later, the facts surrounding Jesus life, death, and resurrection, the eye witness testimonies and miracles… there is quite a bit of evidence for the Bible and Jesus. So the patterns are cool, but speculative. Still fun to read, and I appreciate the suggestion 😁👍🏼
