Is it really a cover if Stu G is playing his own song?! :) Love this! I still remember the day my little brother brought home "Live and In the Can" to me from a trip to the UK. Life changer!

I think they changed the title to "Play through".

That song is one of my first loves in worship music. Now that masterful playing is a lesson of playing “in the pocket” - don’t see that as much these days - well done sir

Absolutely love this! I’m now lobbying for my church to work in some old school into our sets. I mean we have a responsibility to teach the classics too right?

You just need to wait for one of the young and trendies to cover them 😀 FWIW, the Belonging Co have just released ‘What a Friend I’ve Found’ and ‘Obsession’ on their new album. Opportunities ahoy!

Hey, guy with ADHD here… the acoustic intro that starts off the tune on the record (and the stem that starts off the tune live)… does anyone have a solid answer as to what’s being played? For ages millennials have been palm muting an open D5 in dropped D, but I doubt that’s what’s up. If Stu ever sees this… what was Martin doing? Lol.

J Mascis telecaster! EDIT: actually, upon closer inspection, the finish is not bottle rocket blue-different finish.

it's an early 2000's or 90's made in Mexico Tele, that logo and serial number on the front of the headstock are what they used to do. :)

What kind of tele is that? I can't read the headstock but it seems like there's something beside the Fender logo. Are the pickups stock or custom?
@severenceblk2 жыл бұрын
Just says telecaster after fender
@HaShemMetal2 жыл бұрын
Looks like a MIM standard tele, lake placid blue. The headstock serial looks like it starts with “MN” which would be a 1990’s model, looks like “MN1” which would be a 1991. It looks like it says made in Mexico underneath “telecaster” as well. The bridge is not the standard bridge of that era though. It’s not the American standard bridge from 91, either, but it looks like an American standard bridge from later years.

@@HaShemMetal Thanks for the info. I've never seen that color style before on a standard tele, with the metallic guard. Very cool. If you look carefully at the neck pickup, it looks like the dots are partially exposed, so I wonder if it's a custom pickup set. Usually Fender tele neck pickups have a full nickel cover. At least...all the ones I've seen.
@HaShemMetal2 жыл бұрын
@@bradhard8135 yeah, the pickups could totally be something different than the standard series pickups (I’d imagine they would be, haha), and the guard most definitely isn’t stock. I’ve always loved LPB. The neck is definitely a 90’s MIM neck though.
@bradhard81352 жыл бұрын
@@HaShemMetal I know the Lambertones t-style set has the grill cover for the neck pickup. And I think there's a custom Fender set with the same look (maybe the Twisted Tele?). I use McNelly t-style neck pickups in my Fender Sixty-Six with no cover. Absolutely LOVE them.
