Great video. As an SE just wanted to add and stress on your point about looking at other courses. From what I have heard ALX is quite a stressful program with minimal upside. I probably say that 60% of the content is not that useful based on most people's objectives. Especially the time they take on C from what I have heard. I personally recommend this method for people who would want to venture into Software Engineering or just too deep their toes. 1. Find a mentor who you can ask questions, not code questions but "career questions" like what languages/frameworks are in demand, projects to do, what I need to learn, what udemy course is better, what is the best learning path to take etc... - Mentors will tailor their advice based on the specific person's goals, timeline and life constraints. - For example, someone who wants to make Wordpress websites as a part time freelancer would need different advice from someone who wants to work at a Large Fintech company etc - The best ways to find mentors is on Linkedin, find a few people who are experienced and DM them for advice, I'm sure a few of them will respond. 2. Once you got your advice from your mentor, you will probably know the optimal set of courses to take to achieve whatever goal you want. 3. With the knowledge from the courses you can now tackle projects and create a diverse portfolio of projects, the most important things you have to consider is the "marketbility of the project" - Check on LinkedIn over time, the type of Frameworks or Languages that have the high demand and good pay, - Create projects using those frameworks, languages, cloud technologies etc - Try your best to create impactful projects that solve real world problems and not youtube/spotify/airbnb clones, impactful projects standout to recruiters and HR - If you are interested in a particular niche try to make a project for that niche, example : fintech - stock market tracker - When you list your project in your CV, talk about its impact like: did it save users time? did it increase efficiency of some process? how many users/downloads it has or how many companies are using it 4. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take, keep applying to many jobs - If you don't get interviews, you can DM small startups founders with demo projects as a way to prove your worth, especially if those projects is within their niche, this where a diverse portfolio of projects come in handy - Early in you career try to get into a big-medium name company as this creates some sort of credibility in your tenure, especially if you don't have CS degree. 5. Keep learning and iterating on projects - this will sharpen your skill and might even make you profit if your side projects makes it. Also @Double OG Adoga Really curious as to why you are rejoining ALX, not calling it a bad move, just want to know your reasons. Also if you do rejoin, do you start from the beginning, like another 12months of 10hrs/day

Coursera courses are free, if you apply for financial aid you can get upto 100% financing and are way better in my opinion because they are self paced, just the right difficulty level, are well broken down (not fullstack web + mobile all at once) and generally well authored. The whole point about learning should not be to toucher students but rather help them understand in depth then at length the discipline they are studying.

You can consider project-based learning by yourself. Set a goal to develop say a calender or something you want to create, and go and learn as you create it.

Exactly what I am planning to do, I am hanging in alx until I get to learn their python curriculum. However I'm in the hello, world level in python with self learning and planning to get the python app on my pc to study at my own pace.
