In this video, we tell the real-life story of James and Jill, a couple whose international marriage (Australia - United States) was ripped apart by the US government's misguided efforts to "protect" Jill from someone she doesn't want or need protection from - her own husband.
Lives on the Registry is a NARSOL project with one mission: to tell the stories of the one million-plus people listed on sexual offense registries across the US. We focus on their stories, their families, and their struggles to reintegrate back into a society that is often indifferent or hostile. We shed light on the oppressive laws that put people on this unconstitutional blacklist and keep many of them there for the rest of their lives without any hope of being removed, no matter how much they’ve changed or improved their own lives and the well-being of the community.
NARSOL is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization exclusively dedicated to defending the constitutional liberties of registered citizens and their families.NARSOL opposes dehumanizing registries and works to eliminate discrimination, banishment, and vigilantism against persons accused or convicted of sexual offenses through the use of impact litigation, public education, legislative advocacy, and media outreach in order to reintegrate and reconcile affected individuals and restore their constitutional rights.

As always, "Any law repugnant to the Constitution is null and void" Justice Marshall Marbury vs. Madison 5 US (Cranch) 137,161,167. And, the key wording, is "Any law", it does not stipulate what type or category of law that it is. It says " Any law" When going in to argue against the AG, please do not go to court if you feel that you are defeated before you get there. You must be prepared to defeat the AG while you are there. Do not ruin a person who can defeat the AG's opinion when the AG's opinion is just that. An opinion. An opinion is not law. 5 US (Cranch) 137, 161, 167 is citation that dispels all other arguement. The opinion of anyone is only their opinion. Justice Marshall knew exactly what he said. He meant exactly what he said. When you sue state activities that violate the Federal Constitution, ypusrgue after gaining access to the Federal Court system. You are not limited to the state court system.Violation of civil rights by state officials is actionable under US Code 1983 in Federal court. Arguing when you are already defeated upon entry to the Court room is a coward way out. Who are you guys anyway. Stop losing with pitiful wins. Take back the rights of those on the registry. Stop selling them out. Ill do it if you cant.

We welcome any help you can provide in our fight against the registry. Litigation is expensive, and not many lawyers have the expertise in this field. Please contact us with your experience arguing cases in the courts. We would love to add your wins to those we have made.

It really is sad how those laws (the Adam Walsh act and Megan's law) just continue punishment when it has been proven time and again to just not work. That couple and others shouldn't go bankrupt just to find impossible evidence to prove someone isn't a threat nor waste so many years apart when it helps reduce recidivism being together. So many on the registry, myself included, deserve to have a life with someone, to have a family if possible, not be cast out of society at every turn because of false beliefs that came up 20 plus years ago, and used to blame problems on. Human beings who make mistake and pay for said mistakes by serving their court ordered sentences shouldn't have to continually be punished by laws that claim to not be punishment yet are. Making it so much harder for anyone on the registry to move someplace else, get jobs that aren't menial labor for under minimum wage, nor live in safe areas, and be able to go on vacations if they can afford it without having to jump thru numerous insane hoops just to not get arrested again for setting foot outside of their state for a few days. The whole world should allow anyone with a sex offense to live in other countries, other states, find good jobs, and start new lives with people that could love them. Not be made to continually suffer and cause stagnation on top of suffering of innocent family members. I'm doing my best to get thru each day and even started telling others in my counceling group for the rehabilitation program about narsol. To help them get educated and thus educate others in turn. Though i still see the rehabilitation program as a money scam because even upon completion it changes nothing. Some do need it I will admit but making it to where it has no true reward nor changes anything as far as restrictions just makes it a money scam.

Thank you for educating the people in your group. Education can make help people realize that the registry makes it difficult for people to rebuild their lives. Only a few countries, by the way, have a public registry.

@@NARSOL I do what I can but sadly I fear I'm out of time to do more. My heart goes out to all who like me must suffer under insane things even while on probation. I'll keep trying to help educate people while I can.

There was a guy on the sex offender registry on the comment section who was born in America and he met a woman from the Philippines and married and had a kid with her in America but his wife and kid would stay in the Philippines and he can’t visit The Philippines because of a sex offence. So he hired a lawyer to sponsor his wife and kid to America.

It can be done, but very few people are successful because the decision is arbitrary and final.

what about the vice versa situation? can you marry "out" of the u.s. to another country?
@NARSOL
@NARSOL Жыл бұрын
That is an excellent question. Do you mean can an individual travel to another country and marry there? It would depend on that country's laws. But in all likelihood, if a registrant returns with a wife, would know that individual left alone and is attempting to return with a wife.

That is an interesting question. Unfortunately, international travel regulations are notoriously difficult to navigate.
