Basically, part of France will be with these athletes forever. It also reminds me of how they manufactured the medals for the Tokyo Olympics as those ones were made by recycling cellphone and electronics parts, but for Paris, it's chunks of the Eiffel Tower. Also, who wants to see famous French cartoon characters at the opening ceremony from Ladybug to Asterix?

honestly, I don't know why the gold medals are not made of pure (or at least mostly) gold, with the games costing so much, spend a little on the elite athletes who win these medals. Ironic that most likely the most valuable part of the medals will be the iron used in the Eiffel Tower.

🤦‍♀️ it is made of pure gold (or silver et .) BUT they inserted a little piece on top of it on one side, the piece was part of the Eiffel Tower. Look at the back and the side of the medal : it is totally made of gold.

I'd say they would be treated with a coating to prevent any extra oxidation. Most medals also get a very thin polyurethane coating as well to keep them clean

I like the idea but they should have coloured the metal the same colour as the medals (gold, silver, bronze) as it only looks ugly and out of place on the medals with a big metal piece that’s another colour.
