Hello family,
Today we travel to Canada, but not to any part of Canada but to a Canadian territory located in France.
How can that be possible?
Following the Battle of the Vimy Ridge (a town located near Arras, Lens and Lille, in northern France, not far from Belgium) that took place in 1917 during the First World War (and in which 66,000 soldiers died Canadians), in 1922, as a token of gratitude, the French government gave this territory, about 100 hectares, to Canada.
Today you can visit this place and the national commemorative memorial it houses. In fact, admission is free. The memorial features an emblematic monument representing Canada and France, a large park, a reconstitution of trenches, military cemeteries, and a museum.
This territory is managed by the Canadian Ministry of War Veterans.
Without a doubt, this site has a very interesting history and represents a very remarkable and little-known geographical curiosity.
