Of course James and Fuhad had to apologise. Their core audience is black women. On top of that, they aren’t an edgy podcast at all, so their audience isn’t primed for those kinds of jokes. So, an edgy joke about black women can easily alienate a very large portion of their audience.
@eon001
@eon001 8 сағат бұрын
I had no idea that their audience had so many black women. I've seen them on and off for years. Back when they had few subscribers, then they blew up over night. They always seemed like lad-ish humor right in line with Flagrant.

“Edgy”… i promise you Schultz is not “edgy” … black women have heard these types of jokes a million times before. A white guy stereotyping black women isn’t edgy. They didn’t expected James and fuhad to partake in jokes from the 1900s and early 2000s that’s routed in racism. It’s just tiring for them.

I get it but at the same time, why doesn't Shultz or anyone but Alex just start making more black/slave jokes. Better yet, why dont they say the N-word? It's just jokes right? They wouldnt need to apologize right? Or do they understand that some jokes are, maybe not even too far but, understandable that some things just shouldn't be said without repercussions etc. Until Shultz boldly and loudly makes and says an N-word joke, and stand on not apologizing, his 'comedians dont have to apologize' bullshit

In fact most of his non knockout wins are the more "recent" fights. Y'all might be new to MMA but the reason he was seen as the goat from so early was because he's an extremely good wrestler who no one could beat hand to hand. The comments from Andrew and Akash shows that they don’t understand why ShxtsnGigs apologized. Akash saying black women weren’t hurt is wrong. They absolutely were. They made comments to them saying that they were that’s how they know and why they apologized. Andrew referring to their subscribers as their community is also a mistake. When they are speaking about their community they are speaking about black people in particular not their subscribers as a whole which goes to show they don’t get it. Akash never speaks demeaningly about Indian women and I don’t think he’d laugh at jokes if someone were demeaning Indian women specifically

They could have prepared for them a bit more and it was a let down of an episode. Like SG tells hilarious stories about when they were wildin out when they were younger , flagrant boys do that as well. They could have gone in that direction. It just seemed that both pods didn’t really know what each others pod was about and that’s why the fans were like eh.

Andrew made valid points - the boys aren't comedians, they're new to fame, and likely panicked about being canceled. This outrage isn't from their fanbase tho; if so, it would've happened when the podcast episode first dropped. As a black woman, I think the jokes were in bad taste, but comedians will push boundaries you either don't like the joke and or comedians and move on. Wish the boys had pushed back more instead of just laughing staying silent, but it's a learning curve for them.

The discussion about the fear of being canceled and the apology dilemma really exposes the precariousness of public figures today. The pressure to apologize for controversial jokes, especially when the outrage is often from people who aren't even the target audience, feels like a trap. It’s almost like a forced admission of guilt when no harm was truly intended. The hosts’ point about misplaced empathy is crucial-sometimes the outrage isn't even on behalf of those who are supposedly offended. Comedy should challenge boundaries, and if loyal fans understand the context, why let critics dictate the narrative?

I was so happy Andrew made fun of those guys for laughing at jokes and then suddenly realizing how "offensive" the joke was one month later
@AnonymouslyPlayed

As a Brit - I think the Shultz podcast is allowing their positive reactions to said joke but is not allowing the non-American perspective on the joke as they keep deleting the comments, too - that could be yt’s guidelines as well 😅 after all, if you scroll the comment section, they are praising their podcast. When I scrolled through the comment section - I only see comments glazing them lol 😂

He feels too indebted to Andrew to ever do that in any meaningful way even though he shouldn’t because he significantly contributed to this podcast’s success as well. it may seem like a small thing but the fact that Akash was never given his own chair and his face is never in the thumbnails anymore is kind of telling of how Andrew’s ego has massively inflated especially considering Akash has been there from day 1.

Didn’t look too offended when he was perpetrating said stereotypes as an Indian American man - I wonder also how Alex, a proud, self-proclaimed Afro-Latino guy would feel if they made fun about Indian American or say Latin women ? Or how would those women feel ? Or shall we seperate facts from feeing ?? 😅 Btw - shouldn’t humour and jokes as a whole be subjective rather than objective so, technically, are people too sensitive and offended as a generation or, when someone who is not black incorrectly stereotypes all black women the same allowed to create an opinion or statement about their comments ?? 😊 I’m free to hearing your opinion of these ‘jokes’ btw - who knows - maybe we’re just jealous of these guys amazing success, right ? 😌

As someone from the Uk, I actually agree 😅😅 people are so flipping sensitive nowadays - so much so, that they get easily offended by ‘jokes’. Then again, humour is subjective and so-called jokes are all objective, am I close to being offended yet ? What do you think ? 😊 Please feel free to comment further to tell me where I am missing this said humour from Shultz and the rest of the flagrant podcast 😊

Lets all be adults here. You CANNOT determine what can and cannot be offensive to others. You can only decided whats offensive for you. If you make jokes at the expensive of others, you take their feedback, take the L with grace, and move on. But to be adamant that you're right about something that isn't within your right to say is, narcissistic at best. Learn how to be funny while respecting others its not hard.

Sighhh I really enjoy flagrant. But the joke wasn't even funny and he went out of his way to punch down on these constantly perpetuated stereotypes of black women. I def think everyone gets their fair share of picking on but the criticism was coming from that fact that he spent a chunk of the episode belittling the black community; Nigerians, black women etc. and they just sat there and laughed. Maybe if there was a punch line or back and forth banter that wasn't just being prejudice I could understand. Also interesting of Andrew to assume his audience aren't BW too, makes me feel like this space isn't for us? Idk I'm kinda shocked too on Akashs take...

Wasn’t a fan of his “jokes”, but I am siding with Andrew on the fact that, the apology was BS. They were having a good time and laughing and then got backlash and now it’s a problem and he’s racist. They cut other things out but didn’t feel the need to comment or cut it until much later and now you’re losing some core audience and you’re in a video with the same boys you co-signed getting flamed. Nasty work.
