They had mothers of every type, a few had no mothers in their life at all, but me. I saw the worst that parents and familes can do to a child, they would run straight for my house. I didn't have a lot of rules, but I was strict on how we were gonna act, do and say. .We'd all cry, talk, pray, eat something good I'd make, cry some more and talk it out with God's word. Like scripture says, "Come, let us reason". I still love every one of them like they are mine. What we were not going to do was put hands on each other, or anyone else. They didn't even cuss in my presence. We did not run down the parents, ever. We read what the Lord said about it- children, honor and love your parents. It didn't say not to do it if mama and daddy is addicted to drugs, or mama is a prostitute. Some of them have caused change in their parents lives because they understood their parents sins were between them and the Lord. They're only responsible for their own actions. And what else we ain't going to do is use it all as an excuse to do bad. Naw, naw, if you been through, it you know not to do it to someone else! We have a few entitled generations here that were allowed to be spoiled brats, and parents that thought it was cute. Now they have monsters for society to deal with. Probably the majority hasn't ever gone to church, or even knows about God. Life is about love. I'm at the end of my life. Someone please mind the children, even if they aren't yours.
