On the previous glasses/windows joke he screwed up, he had a haphazard way of jotting down jokes for set lists and sometimes he'd accidentally jump over the setup. For the "no arms"/"can't" joke I don't think he noticed that he said "arms" instead of "hands". He was pretty consistent, almost to a fault, about always pointing out to the audience that he did a joke wrong.
