Didging along to an african djembe rhythm named "koma". I was practicing the dunun-parts, and really liked the feel of the rhythm. Thats why I decided to improvise to it later on.
Im sorry I cant tell you much more of the cultural reference for this rhythm, because I simply have it in my pcc (percussion studio) file library. I collected many (traditional) african rhythms from the net. This file was called "Koma" - This is what I could find on info:
Koma des femmes
Location: Guinea
At the end of a festival, a group of young women parade behind the drummers, accompanying them back to their huts. 'Enjoy the freedom of youth and learn from your parents' lives, they reflect your future!' Is one of the messages sung. (Rhythm Koma des femmes combined with song Djâmanaké). (Source: Famoudou Konaté, cd: Hamaha Föli Kan)
As said before - not sure if it indeed is koma des femmes - if you know which one it is, please do tell :-D
Anyway, enjoy the music, hit the X haha.. If you enjoy it, please let me know!
