Hi Didi! LOVE this video and your special guest. Can't believe how he puts his jacket on : ) I have a 1 yo son. It seems too early to try to do these activities with him, do you have any suggestions of montessori activities suitable for him?

Hi Catherine, as much as I push him to be independent, I haven't yet toilet train him 😂. I decided not to do it this summer (and in general I really take my time with this) as we travelled a lot and I wanted to make sure he is free to pee/poo wherever we are without holding it. Then he started nursery in September and I wanted him to deal with one thing less. We left it for Christmas and to all fairness we tried, but didn't go well - he is sabotaging all our efforts and he simply refused to use the toilet. May be if we have tried earlier on, it would have been easier - now he doesn't want, he refuses and he holds his poo (or pees on himself). We decided to give him some more time and do it when he is ready. He always tell us before he does the job that he is going to do it, but he refused to do it anywhere but the nappy. My friends already potty-trained and it took them less than a week at that age, but their kids didn't mind that much - Mika is super stubborn about it for a strange reason. I, somehow, feel better myself about using still nappies as we travel so much and I'm worried he will learn to hold a lot and not use public toilets. Eventually, of course, he will learn - we are giving him until the spring holiday and will train him them, but I wait for signal from him. When you decide, you need to be completely convinced that you want to, as they feel the energy (I'm sure Mika feels that I'm not convinced myself and he is reflecting my state).

Subscribed. Thank you. I enjoyed the video. I love the educational, fun, simple and real life activities that don't require to buy expensive materials!:) Children eventually get bored with everything. It's OK for a child to be bored at times, they can come up with their own little games and be creative. A+ for these needed activities. I hope you can make more videos like this one, although I see it is a year old.

Oh, thank you so much for your comment and watching! I will do more videos on Montessori as now, I just got my Montessori Diploma 4 assessment and know it in much more depth than a year ago. What would you like to see most?

I agree with you, they do get bored, and we try to combat this with lot's of shelves, buckets, and different jobs, so they can come back to them easy enough. They learn to put one job away before taking another one out! Blessings!

Oh poor kiddo is so bored and sleepy.. :) maybe next time you can say the speaking section when he is asleep or something so that he doesn't get over tired or bored. And record shirt videos when he is actually doing activity and not too aware..it may compromise video quality but it will ensure he can do activities while enjoying them and not getting drifted

when can i start introducing the montessori method to my child. i have a 10month old son. thank you! :)
@diditonev6 жыл бұрын
Dear Melyndee, Montessori philosophy is about 'following the child'. You can be a 'Montessori' parent right from the beginning - following the child, responding to their current needs, observing and preserving concentration, creating favourable environment, encouraging independence from very early on, being a great role model (respecting the environment, keeping order, maintaining state, etc). If you are able to put shelves where your son can reach out for activities without your help, it will be great to support his independence.
@TumpskyandMrsSmall6 жыл бұрын
Yes, we use the shelf and job bucket idea, to keep organized!
