The yellow 8 prong grapple is for grabbing railway ties and the small clamshell is for digging between them

Actually no. The large tool is a tamper bank, and the grab does pick up ties. You can see this on the Cat website.

It will short circuit the track if it's live, btw. Bought one yesterday and the axle isn't isolated from the wheels, so it shorts the layout.
