This problem exists on orange track also, when combining bits from different eras there's definitely going to be bumps in track. I usually just sand that thicker piece down so that bump levels out, it doesn't disappear completely but works fine enough so that cars don't jump.

So nice to know that I'm not the only one who has that problem. Thanks for the comment!

Once again, you're changing the game with your innovation 💡 👏 Putting out a guess re: matte finish CR track and the slightly off level transition issue, would gaffer's tape smooth out the gaps? This adapter sure looks like an elegant answer to me!! Thanks for all the work put in the design 🙌

Tape would certain help. Great thinking.

when connecting the corolplast to other track on bottom of coroplast cut out 1/4” & then connect with ur adapter. Coroplast will over lap by 1/16” making a smooth transition to crash track

Great innovation. Love seeing your work. One thing to note, I guess depending on where you are in the world, there are different types of makes/construction of ie coroplast, tunnelcore or whatever manufacturer. I see you are using the 4mm, as did 3D. I found for me that is a rare, hard to find width in Aus. I did find some, (back in 3D days) but the hole widths differed to 3Ds so was not a good build with his design connectors. The main thickness we see easily available here are 3mm, 2.5mm and 5mm. I still have a couple of 4mm sheets here, I will have a look at its measurements tomorrow. Cheers, Marc D

This is very cool. Are there ridges high enough on the corrugated plastic to keep the cars going straight instead of sliding in circles on long straight sections?
@spoolheads Жыл бұрын
Nope, but if the cars are going straight, then they don't need them, so it comes down to having good turns that allow the cars to exit straight.

@@spoolheads Yes, the 3D turn, (great innovation) is a bit of a killer on a number of aspects. Get the wrong line, and it throws the car into a roll over, too slow going into it, all over, etc. I also found with the sizzlers corner, one had to adjust the curve (entry and exit points) to really get the cars to roll through well. (Pretty much like all your experimentation on the subject. Coroplast on the exit of a corner was always tricky, like a skidpan (hopefully you use that terminology in the US) To assist overcome that I used fine fishing libe down the length of the track, (First section) About 4 lines? and it really helped correct /control the cars better. Cheers, Marc D. Happy New Year!
@spoolheads Жыл бұрын
@@cutrockr-diecastracing2773 Great comments. I'm really hoping to make a turn that is much closer to the sizzler corner than the crash racers. I'm also testing coroplast at the same width as crash racers and I'm loving it. Cars are skidding nearly as much as when people use the wider tracks.

How about placing a shim just between the structural verticals and under the "road" surface of the corrugated plastic to raise it up to meet the height of the shiny Crash Racer track and have a smoother transition, and perhaps the shim is built-in into the adapter's end that fits into the corrugated plastic? Possibly a gradual incline wedge shim, like a ramp up under the "road" surface of the corrugated plastic onto the "shiny" Crash Racer track? Lemme know if you've tried that and see if works if you do. Thanks. Stay safe and blessed. Yosh...
@spoolheads2 жыл бұрын
Shimming it is a great idea and if I found tape that matched the color of the track, it would be a great solution. Thanks for your comment!
@ArTchN_Ei8ht_Industries2 жыл бұрын
@@spoolheads I hope the shim's incline to level the height of the corrugated plastic onto the Crash Racers track won't be too steep that it creates a tiny jump which defeats the purpose of having a smooth transition from corruplast to Crash Racers with little to no "airtime" for the cars, if you do try this solution. Lengthening the base of the shim will decrease the grade of the incline, but cutting in too far to fit the shim in the corruplast might compromise the structure integrity of the corruplast.

We had a section of our track where we had a bump on the finish line straight from the matte crash racers that was causing havoc. We ended up using a sheet of vinyl decal, section of card stock and "patching" it across the bump. There's still a bump there but it's leveled out and not a harsh edge that was sending the front end of the cars airborne or pushing them up on the curb. Here's a short we did to incorporate it into the DRS World. kzbin.infoY0_UmnXNps0?feature=share
