This song makes me feel free. It makes me feel like wanting to go on a road trip down south. And to bring back summertime.

An even stronger message to remember this 4th of July

They just played this at my towns 4th gathering, which is where i first heard it. Leaves me with an ominous feeling because usually our town is bustling and partying on the 4th and playing courtesy of the red white and blue, but this year it was silent. No one spoke a word. 2,000 of us sat there contemplating the lyrics

3:40 To show you where, when and how I grew up: Born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. One underrated part of a song, is the ending. And, Home has one of the best endings. I can visualize a car driving out of sight, down the road, as this ending plays.

And the lyrics are a somewhat less jingoistic/simplistic. I don't feel any pressure or obligation to salute the nearest flag when I hear the.real one..
