How do you get to there mate? Great video!

Cheers - There is a path behind the Freightliner offices opposite the big Boughey Distributoon centres. Follow that and it leads to a mount overlooking the yard 👍

Nice vid. Seeing that ex-DB Cargo 90 sitting there has me wondering what's going on with it and its mate. Are they just going to be raided for parts or are they going to run one day?
@trainsplanesАй бұрын
Not sure - Hopefully they’re in a queue for repairs to get them back on the move themselves soon 🤞

There's also one in lane five of the shed, 90040 .. .. 90018 is the one outside ..
@jimmyhillschin9987Ай бұрын
@@johnson_street_IEMD Freightliner is trying to get the rules changed to incentivise electric-operated freight, so maybe these are waiting for that to come through.

That Class 90 was moved into the shed at Basford Hall for attention this week, 90018. Hopefully back in service in the not too distant future.

There is a mound next to the Freightliner offices - It gives a good viewpoint over the yard. 👍

I think your videos show that the future of rail freight is by no means positive. High costs coupled with road transport moving towards carbon zero, means the appetite for investing in rail infrastructure to handle freight could well diminish. What do you think?
@andrewreynolds4949Ай бұрын
I’d be more concerned about thin operating margins and railway capacity restrictions. There’s always some traffic where it’s more efficient to move by rail

@andrewreynolds4949 I just watched a Green Signals video in which Richard Bowker was chatting g to Tim Shoveller, who is now the boss at Freightliner. He was making similar points. It's a good watch/listen if you have time to spare.

@@stephendavies6949 I haven't watched that particular one but I've seen similar presentations before. There was one on the Permanent Way Institution's channel ('The PWI') a few weeks ago, specifically about railfreight connections with the Channel Tunnel and barriers to growth
