I wasn't expecting the DA to rejoin the train after the EF coupled up. Regardless, seeing an EF taking passengers was pretty impressive. Incidentally, I only chased the excursion as far as the SH1 crossing in Mangaweka.

This is a very rare occurrence, The EF class hardly ever haul passengers these days being usually restricted to just freights.
