Shaun , I had a similar problem. After chasing it down and trying every conceivable option .it was water in the fuel , It was the last thing I suspected. And I couldn’t see the water in the fuel . Stick with it , there good little heaters

i started having E08 on start up. have to reset and try again, sometimes 2 or 3 try"s. before it would light off. from watching videos of others having same problem with soot and dirty running. the power supply i have hooked to it, the voltage output is adjustable. when i hooked it up, the display on the heater showed P-11. so i turned the adjuster, till it read P12. and it worked good all winter, till now. so i bumped the power supply up to P13. now it lights right off. no more problems. so i believe that all the problems stem from the glow plug not getting hot enough for a good burn. by upping the voltage is getting the plug hotter. so burn cleaner.

but the glow plug turns off after the start up phase

Every time I fill my diesel tank (not the one on the heater but the one I use to purchase the fuel) I add a capful of Klean-flo diesel conditioner. I then shake to mix before filling my heater tank. The conditioner significantly reduces the smoke on start-up and the amount of soot produced by the system. For those who put their tanks outdoors, it also prevents the fuel from gelling in very cold weather..

I had the same issue. The E08 error code isn’t all that accurate. It wasn’t a fuel issue in my case. Some time ago I extended the exhaust pipe by about 4’ It all went well for a while and then flame out with heaps of smoke. I took the exhaust off and it was full of black liquid. My theory is that condensation forms in the pipe as the hot air cools on the extended pipe eventually restricting air flow. Returned the pipe to its original length problem solved. Haven’t had a problem since.
@Undead-Aquila-k8x7 күн бұрын
Yes, I agree. Recently replaced the exhaust, and even though i didn't get an error code. I noticed straight away that increasing the length of the exhaust causing it to take longer to start, but it does start without an issue. I've noticed white smoke, but it's just condensation. The only thing I've changed is the exhaust. The diesel heater is quite new.

I opened up the air hole near the glow plug to 3mm, and trimmed the air inlet tube as short as possible . Start my heater on 25 degrees c then turn it down to 16deg after 15 min. Instant clean starts. Hope this helps.

I have thousands of hours of experience of messing with these things, hands on, and have over 40 videos about them on my channel. You will get a LOT of rubbish advice and have a lot of people lamenting about things that don't matter. I hope I can help. Error 08 simply means that the temp dropped too low / the heater flamed out. The ECU is stupid and that's all it knows. The manuals sometimes overstate the accuracy of the problem. Either from poor stanslation or trying to state a likely issue. There are a LOT of people who lie or exaggerate about what they burn in these heaters. I have videos of my experiments... 30 - 40 different tests... You can not burn waste oils or veg oil... unless you treat your oil with methanol and lye, and turn it into biodiesel. Are you burning diesel or kerosene ? If you are burning fevitable oil, this is your problem. The angle of the pump doesn't matter, the type of fuel line doesn't matter. The metal glow plug mesh, despite what many say, is almost never the issue. I'm not sure why people make a big deal over this part. Don't use a cleaner to clean your chamber off... scrape it off with a knife or screwdriver... It is very wasteful and not very effective to use a spray cleaner. That cleaner may make you feel good, but it's nonsense. It also doesn't need to be perfectly clean... just remove the big chunks. Once your chamber looks like this, you may need a new one, as you can't really clean the area behind the baffle. There is another mesh in that area, if it will get clogged up with soot. This can affect your burn and cause further soot, even if everything else is okay. Get rid of that air inlet hose... It may not be a problem, but it may be causing a restriction... These are very fussy and even with diesel, this may cause an issue. Your shed (the area with the heater) is not sealed well enough to worry about pulling air from outside. Just remove that hose and install the original foot or 14" hose. If you are burning diesel Not all controllers have an engineering menu. If this does, it is likely holding down the wrench button for a few seconds.

Hi, I will replace the old air intake pipe, and pipe up the return air into the shed I`m heating, and maybe install a new burn chamber. I am running fresh red diesel. The heater is up and running now for a couple of days, so we shall see. But i will make those changes asap! Thanks, Shaun.
@loweredexpectations492711 ай бұрын
@@happydaysveg1965 Okay... good. to hear you are running Diesel. In this case, I can tell you that your issue is 100% due to a rich burn condition. This could have been a restriction of your combustion air, a restriction of the exhaust, the fan speed being set too low for your fuel setting / the fuel hz being set too high for your fan speed. These run VERY clean when running properly. I have tested mine at less than 30 parts per million CO and almost no detectable TVOC... OSHA says you can remain in a 50 ppm environment all day...Obviously, you want to vent your exhaust clear of your working / living area. If your CO level is over 40, this indicates you are running too rich. I would recommend buying a cheap CO meter to set your MIN and MAX pump and fan speed, if you have access to an engineering menu.
@nexpro69858 ай бұрын
@loweredexpectations4927 is right. The controllers on these heaters are not sophisticated. The heaters rely on the meshes inside to vaporise the fuel. ( There is no atomisation going on ). Think of your heater as a turbo charged paraffin blow torch and you won't be far off. Your heater seems to be running really rich and a few people have suggested that the air inlet pipe to the burner is too long. That might restrict the air and cause the rich running. But if, as loweredExpectations suggests the burn tube mesh ( which you cannot easily see ) is clogged you need to replace the burn tube.

Hi sorry to bother you but you sound like you know what your talking about so iam wondering if you can help...I've recently both a 5kw chinese diesel heater for my van..it is plumded into diesel fuel tank..I've primed it and it actually worked a couple of times but ended up with E-08 .primed it a few times and although there weren't any air bubbles I took off the fuel pipe to heater and primed it..the fuel just dripped out but wasn't a constant drip..the odd time it was a squrt so I decided to change the pump..now it had a good squrt and when connected the heater ran at least 6 different times for around an hr without any issues...now when I try it iam back with error code E-08..no air bubbles in line..do you have any ideas? Totally at a loss Thankyou, Gary
@loweredexpectations492718 күн бұрын
@@garynoble5464 Firstly, it should be noted that a E-08 code simply means the heater has flamed out. Some manuals will try to be too specific and make it seem like the ECU knows why the heater flamed out. If it says anything other than "Flame out", it is purely a guess. While your issue may be related to fuel, assuming that could lead you down the wrong path. A blocked exhaust or inlet, or some other issue could be to blame. While fuel is a good place to start looking, the fuel pump does not need to deliver the fuel at pressure / does not need to squirt fuel. The best way to calculate if you have proper fuel feed would be to pull the fuel line and collect it over a minute. Weigh the fuel (or measure the volume accurately) and then do some math to see how much you would burn in an hour. At the highest setting, the math should lead you to .54 litres, or something close to that. The heater is more or less a diesel lantern or candle ... The fuel flows onto a wick and burns away gradually. The heater will not go out (E-08) unless the flow if fuel is interrupted for 10 seconds or so. If it is a fuel flow issue, there are a few things that could cause this. Ideally, you have the tank above the heater so that it is gravity feeding into the pump. The pump will pull fuel up out of the tank, but it is much better to have it set up so it will siphon to the pump location. You also don't' want the heater to be too high above the tank or pump. The manual will give you a max on both of these things, but ideally you don't want the pump to lifting fuel out of the tank or pushing it up to the heater.... simply acting as a metering device. That's why they are called "dosing pumps". The tank should be at the highest point, the pump lower than the tank and the heater level or lower than the tank. If neither of these things are your problem, you should check the lines and make sure that they are not kinked or pinched. Check to see if your fuel cap vent is flowing. Your tank could become air locked... this is usually obvious as it will cause the tank to collapse. Hopefully, something I have told you here, helps. Cheers.

When you were tapping the aluminum case, it could make a good dinner bell. Anyway, running these on low speed or low heat will cause the buildup of carbon. Try running it on high for an hour each day to burn off the carbon.

E08 basically means "No Flame". There can be many reasons for this. With older heaters it's probably carbon build up in the gauze around the glowplug. Fuel doesn't get atomised. I ran mine for three years(winters), before needing to clean it and that was just running clean diesel.

Change the setting on the display to the voltage, I bet it's a voltage issue when the pump tries to send fuel. When you press ON you change to the voltage by pressing bottom left button 3 times. If it dips into the 11's it will throw E-08

The fuel line type makes no difference as there's no pressure. The only problem you can have with a fuel line is if it is cracked or pinched.
