You should've flipped the EGR thingy 180 degrees around to fix the problem entirely. there's a technical document from vw explaining this to vw dealer mechanics. You just notch it with an angle grinder so it fits the other way around. :)

Should have taken the EGR cooler off and cleaned it out. If the intake has that much soot build up then you know the cooler is damn near plugged. Besides that, good work.

Lmao, considering I own a 2003 Vw Jetta gasoline engine and thought I knew everything there was to know about working on that. Watching this made me feel stupid. I’d say it cost ALOT. The customer had to of paid at least $1500 American currency to have this done. This job was actually very complicated considering how delicate the process of doing something like this really is. I give full props to this mechanic. It’s hard to find a mechanic who can do a job like this that you can trust to do the job this well, which must increase cost a bit.
