Great song! When this song was new I lived in the east and didn’t appreciate the references. Now a Marin County resident and veteran of many drives ‘tween LA and SF, it’s an even more fun song to hear. Although I should warn folks that summer nights in Sausalito are rarely warm. Been ages since I heard that song. It could easily be mistaken for Steve Miller and a lot of people did. The guitar players at the time the album was recorded were Rob Vunderink (also the vocalist) and Mark Boon. Both of them wrote the song. According to a quote on Wikipedia that I can't verify, Rob came up with the riff and melody (so presumably he is playing the riff on the track) and Mark came up with some chords, and wrote the lyrics. It's a cool riff and easy enough to play. It's rather similar to the riff in Jet Airliner by Steve Miller.
@PeterLangerak6 ай бұрын
In fact, both of the guitarists play on it; Mark Boon clean (riff and 1st solopart) guitar Rob Vunderink (raw guitar and 2nt solo) Rob wrote the riff and Mark is playing it on the record. The other members have unfortunately passed away...
