Is Pink Floyd not Pink Floyd since Nick Mason and David Gilmore are the two members left to carry on their legacy? Bands evolve. Members come and go. They have reunions and occasionally tour. I totally forgot about this great song!!! I had a friend that I grew up with my ho introduced me to this classic. He was one heck of a guitar player. Just picked up a guitar and in a couple of months he was out doing everyone around him. He died from some rare muscle disease and I miss him terribly.

1981 was one of the best years in a decade (especially the first half) that had so many incredible groups and tunes. Foreigner 4, Journey's Escape, REO Speedwagon's High Infidelity, Styx's Paradise Theater, Kim Carnes with Bette Davis Eyes, Rick Springfield with Jessie's Girl, Hall and Oates, Alan Parsons Project, The Police, ELO, Dan Fogelberg, Eddie Rabbitt, Kook and the Gang, Blondie, the Pointer Sisters--and so many more. What's amazing about this particular song is this essentially one hit wonder band is Dutch, and they rocked it then and now. The overall feel of 80s music--whatever genre--was upbeat and fun. While there is some of that still around, the overall theme has not been fun in a long time...BBT80s!

Can't stop watching this video ... I remember the hit from back in the day. The song evolved from that hook guitar riff. Everyone has done their homework, band is TIGHT ! ... Studio quality performance and great audio mixing ... everyone is having fun ... wish I knew what the private joke is between the bassist, drummer, and girl (something unexpected is going on like maybe the drummer is blasting it out unexpectedly and/or the keyboardist in the back on the riser is singing the bass part in the chorus, 'Sausalito Summer Nights' ... I can't quite figure it out). They really nailed it on this one. I've watched some of the other music from this concert and was left scratching my head, not to be critical but its kind of artsy fartsy melodic folk music indigenous to the area or ballads ... the crowd seems to be into it, so more power to them ... but something comes together for them on this one. The straightforward pop nature of this hit, perhaps, just gives the artists a chance to stretch their legs and work as a team to hold down the beat and do some heavy lifting. Even the camera work on this is exceptional. Very talented studio musicians here are a joy to watch. Thanks guys !

We are looking at the band Kayak. This concert (yes I was there too) was given as a tribute in November 2010, one year after their drummer Pim Koopman died unexpectedly from a heart attack. Pim returned to Kayak after having been one of the two founding members in the early 1970s. The other founding member was musical genius Ton Scherpenzeel. In between those two "Kayak periods" Pim was, amongst others, the founder and drummer of Diesel in 1978. Kayak guitarist Rob Vunderink also played with Diesel at the time this song came out. So we see Kayak playing this song, Diesel´s greatest hit, here as a tribute to Pim. The singer we see was not a member of Kayak: Jeroen Englebert. He joined Diesel at some later stage.
