D8... I used to to do land plane work in NSW on a d8...6pm to 6am watching the turbo glow in 1990... thanks for this ..

I love how this channel let's the diesels speak for themselves... those of us here for the love of the machine....ARE HERE FOR THAT. The revs, the turbo whistle, the lugging until she almost quits... thats what brings back memories.... not a dumb sound track

So many experts here. So many keyboard operators that want to give their uninformed opinion on how this guy is doing it wrong. So many keyboard operators that wouldn’t even be able to start this old cable cat, let alone run it a tenth as good as this guy.

Love to see that old cable machine work.👍👍👍

To those wanting " more throttle (RPM's)"--that is a 14A or 15A series with the D342 engine. They were governed to 1100 RPM at high idle, meaning thet operated at 900-1000 RPM or less under load.

Joe Moore thankyou for clearing that up for the coffee shop wizards who want more throttle ,I love the sound

@@kimneabel7274 Nobody needs your sarcastic mouth... When a person doesn't know the operating range of the motor... and you've run many different makes of diesel engines that aren't that old or aren't Cat... then you only know most engines respond to more fuel... You could have said that without what you started with...

My first 'dozer was a 1955 (My birth year!) D8 with a winch operated Birtley blade, I think the blade was filled with concrete for better pry out, donkey engine start. I loved it!

Nice old dozer. My grandpa bought two cable tools, and we still use one to pull a scraper. Dad wants to convert the scraper to hydraulics so we can pull it with our Deere 8260r, but old iron last forever.

Few operators left that can run a cable operated blade, fewer mechanics that can fix them ,using the blade for the throttle, nice!

Proper tractor, proper job. Low RPM, high torque, low stress. Don't build em like that any more. Mores the pity.

High torque, low rpm. It's an old cat!
@dozer16424 жыл бұрын
That is full throttle silly. Have you ever ran one?
@eddieball19244 жыл бұрын
@@dozer1642 I have multiple times, that's why I think he may want to check his high idle rpm because it seems a little low otherwise the torque should carry him through the tougher spots that are causing it to lug more than it should.
