Absolutely stunning views and shots. High quality content with superb filming. It's like taking a postcard and putting it into motion. Really enjoyed the radio chatter. Thank you for sharing with us.

Wow great job with the CN 100 & GECX! Nice friendly crew flashed the lights, that's always special! Cool braking car, didn't even know those existed. I loved that curve spot, someday when i come up here and visit ill have to come to this spot, its great! Love how its elevated as well, elevated train shots are always so nice. Oh and i almost forgot, congrats on 35K!

Love the scene setting shots of river in the beginning. Just imagine all the Christmas goods on that first train :)

As usual a great vid. Cool to see the braking car. This is the earliest in the winter season when I have seen one. Cheaper to have the braking car than a locomotive .Big time fuel saving and it frees up a locomotive.

RTC Steve manages CN trackage in BC & Alberta. Not sure about Saskatchewan. That's a lot of territory.

Beautiful vid again! What’s the purpose of a braking car?
@TracksideTyson2 жыл бұрын
To act as a replacement instead of a DPU these cars help supply air to the back of the train and CN likes using these in colder temps.

I read some of you mention the "braking car" ?? I assume this has traction motors fitted and rigged for dynamic braking? I've never heard of this before but it makes sense if trains are going downgrade and don't need extra HP? Gregg.

You have it figured out! Haha and I noticed CN likes using these in the colder temps to keep the train aired up I suppose! Lol

@@TracksideTyson Ok 🙂 Thank you sir. Since GE use electric compressors, it would be easy to set up a battery bank , charged by the traction motors when in dynamics? A very nice , green use of wasted energy. Gregg.

From what I understand it's simply an "air repeater" car with a compressor in it to help supply air from another location other than the head end. Cheers. -grant
