New Record Catfish on My Boat

In this video I tell the story of the monster catfish I caught on Santee Cooper and try to figure out where to catch a big catfish. This is the boat record catfish on my boat and my personal best catfish. While this fish is half the weight of the world record blue catfish (amazing that the world record blue catfish is over 140 pounds!), this is the largest blue catfish I've ever caught.
This monster catfish weighed 70 pounds 3 ounces and was released alive back into the water on Santee Cooper. This huge blue catfish hit a relatively small piece of catfish bait while drifting a deep water flat.
Big catfish are known for preferring small catfish bait in winter, and smaller pieces of shad or perch can actually be the best catfish bait. Santee catfish can be caught any time of the year, and santee catfishing is known throughout the catfishing world as a bucket list fishing trip.
