This stream is a general overview of the challenge, and the start of our first genuine attempt at this - Since in real time we're a few streams ahead - I thought I'd note that some slight tweaks to the rules have been made but overall they remain the same. One example of a slight tweak I made was to pay 100 gold every time I stay at an inn vs 10 gold to balance it out a bit more in the long run. Thanks for watching! This is a much more challenging experience than I originally thought it would be.

Theres a mod to make that a concrete thing if you'd ever want it; I use it to up my immersion as I tend to play with iNeed, Campfire, Frostfall and Better Spell Learning (no learning a spell by smashing the book into your brain, you have to study it and time passes while you do) enabled, I like having to spend more on inns to make them more valuable to me in a playthrough where I'm not fast traveling via anything but carriages and I need reliable, warm sleeping arrangements

Because you helped Hdvar several of the items around Alvor's work area and house can be picked up and not be counted as stealing. Including some iron and steel ingots. This works for many characters you do minor quests for, you can even just chop some firewood, sell it to the innkeeper in Whiterun then use the bed for free for the rest of the game. If you don't want to exploit that mechanic for the video I completely understand it would feel against the spirit.

@VyperByteX

@@jaesjmes5498 I was just giving an example really. What I'm talking about there is not opening up Hilda's shop, but completing her unmarked quest to chop firewood for her, and when you select the option in question she will give you 5 gold for each firewood you have. I was just pointing out that completing many of these small, and sometimes even unmarked quests, allows you to pick up some items people own, and it will not count as stealing. It's due to a hidden friendship value you have with every character in the game, and could be a way to get items in such a play through you may have trouble getting if you don't want to steal.

Hi, I just tried this and it didn't seem to work. I sold about 50 gold's worth of firewood and she still charged me for the room. I suppose I could just chop wood every time I need to stay but from your comment it sounded like it would be no charge

I'm glad that you're so open about not knowing quite a few things about Skyrim. It's actually refreshing seeing a content creator being honest about that (without claiming to be new to a game, which you didn't) - plus I get to see you discover new things and adapting your strategy all the time. At the same time, it's still odd to me that some of the things that seem so "obvious" to me (like Halted Stream Camp having the only easily accessible Transmute Ore-spell in the entire game since it's not sold by normal spell book vendors) aren't to someone who hasn't poured literally over a 1000 hours into the game (yet).

But I enjoy all of your Skyrim content. (Never played fallout, so I wouldn't understand what was going on in those videos.) 3:19:15 Also I totally get being nervous playing music in front of people. Ok, not super related to the challenge but that sweater is super awesome. I think that while you are considering designs for Joov merch, stuff like that with Joffrey and og m’aiq from Morrowind, not to mention turkey stick would be really cool! i think they could definitely be geared towards memes and characters from the vids and maybe even have some dialogue or a quote from the vids (like look dad, I’m doing it!). Anyway, idk if it’s a great idea but I hope it helps on the road to Joov merch! Also, great vid! Super excited for the rest of the vods!

"Would you help a creepy giggly jester if he got stuck in front of your farm in the middle of nowhere?" Considering Cicero is a very dangerous man, yes, absolutely. Help him so he's able to get going on his merry way and either thinks on you fondly or not at all. Not helping is just a terrible idea, and not just for this quest, but irl. Always always always be nice to crazy people that know where you live if you live in the middle of nowhere! It may backfire, but not being nice is definitely going to at some point.

this is a cool challenge idea! if you're not opposed to small mods, there's actually an option in the alternate start mod to start the game as a beggar, so you would literally have to go from rags to riches. But hey, that's only if you die on your current run, and we all know *that's* not going to happen 😉

Hey joov, long time viewer of the main channel, pretty long time here on the Vod channel also, and I gotta say when I pulled up KZbin today for the first time went to subs and saw a new joov video which is already a nice thing, but on top of that the title was OSRS ironman? well hot damn I was beyond excited, I am a 19/20 year RuneScape vet, it was my whole childhood so the mix of 2 games I love and one of my favorite creators currently I couldn't wait to watch, I watched a few minutes but didn't have the time to fully indulge, now going back and giving this my full attention I'm stoked for this mini series, and one last thing I gotta say its awesome to see you shout out and to have found the somewhat inspiration for this based from j1mmy and settled because they are two creators I also love, so as much as the RuneScape super nerd goblin inside me wants to blab forever sharing RS knowledge I will hold off, would love to see you do an OSRS newbie series, even more so if you could collab with j1mmy and his pals like settled and such, maybe a group iron man series, I bet my life it would be hit merging the two game communities and you guys individual communities.

1:58:58 I can confirm I always leave whiterun the same way you do. But whenever I'm entering whiterun, I never go through the drawbridge. Looking at the landscape a moment after this exact timestamped frame, there is a little ramp "above" the wooden bridge that's beside your face. I always use that ramp to get on the wall and skip the drawbridge.

Okay I already left a comment like 4 hours ago, but then I got to the part where you mentioned Knox's Korner, and you solved a mystery I've had in the back of my mind since the last time I saw those videos when I was in roughly 6th grade, in like 2006. Seriously, I can clearly remember some kids convincing our teacher to play these in class but I have NEVER been able to remember what they were called. Super crazy to watch now and remember the early internet and the type of humor that was prevalent back then. Anyway 11/10 all Joov videos are informative and helpful.

Fun fact; that smithing tutorial you mentioned can be done at any smithy. They all have similar dialogue for it to my knowledge. I usually end up doing it with Adrienne in Whiterun and I know 100% you get the option to make her the dagger and such, but you can also do it with Alvor in Riverwood, Hadvar's uncle. I don't know if others give the whole 'make me a dagger' spiel, but I heard the smithy, Glover, in Solstheim comment on my first smithed item when I was practicing doing a Solstheim only playthrough like Turkey Stick lol.

Hey joov, vod channel lurker here, i know you are doing the iron man stuff right now, but i wanna put forward a combination of challenges for fallout 4. Fallout 4 survival Automatic guns only, and only in vats. (Pacifiying perks allowed) Play with the pacification perks Travel with every follower all the time using a mod (at least the most that you can without alienating more, for example im not sure if the courser can be with you if you side with the others, but hes also boring so its meh) , but take away all weapons so they cant attack, and get them all to max affinity, whilst doing all the companion quests. Make a mega base somewhere with a room decorated for each companion once you have got to know them and their personality and aesthetic, and any unique vendors you can find (like vault tec sales man). The idea of a super charismatic guy/gal bluffing their way through the wasteland, only to spray with poor accuracy when shit hits the fan is amazing. I imagine attack dog will be of good service. (Maybe a high char luck build with solid agi and per? Str and endurance are for fighters, not lovers)

You should do this again some time, Joov. But this time actual ironman. 😂 Don't pick up; ingots (must be made at smelter from ore), potions (must be made at alchemy table from collected ingredients), furs that aren't from a direct kil, spell tomes (that means no transmutation spell). But I would say anything given to you as a quest item is still a fine rule. But you can have a follower this time. But the same rules apply to them that apply to you. Oh. And it has to be played on legendary difficulty 😆 Love the content Btw.

i dont think Joov should have given the bow back to the owner and here is my explanation why: In runescape when playing iron man you still get random events. The Thief giving you the bow is a Random event so i think a "True Iron" man in my eyes would have kept it or given it back to the owner. Like you can do in runescape random events. :)

I thought Ironman was just permadeath with a survival mod, but I got no trouble with added difficulty. No looting weapons or armor is a nice addition.

It was a fun challenge! albeit a bit grindy since I have to somewhat focus on "Finishing" in order to make a video and tell a story. I think what makes it really fun is forcing myself to interact with mechanics I don't normally interact with like mining

What is instead of paying to sleep at the inn you steal an item and submit to jail without paying the bounty and then sleep off the jail sentence?

I changed this later on to a 100 gold fee for the time being. It felt like a fair balance that left a good amount of room for locating the remaining gold needed

If there's a mod that makes gold bars usable as a currency then that would make buying the house a much more reasonable goal as well as help with the rp aspect of the run.

Agreed, I wish that woulda been a vanilla feature. Since it not vanilla tho it's super unlikely Joov'll use it. That's one of the unique and awesome things about Joov imo, most other Skyrim streamers have so many mods that for people without powerful PCs it feels a bit unattainable (still love their streams tho)
