Thank you for whoever made and posted this clip! My 7yr old daughter now knows why I look at her, wrinkle my brow, and say this phrase to her whenever she's telling me silly nonsense. She loves it! Thanks for allowing me the ability to show her something that was only available when I was around her age! I hope she doesn't use it on her teachers at school 😂. They're no doubt too young to remember any of this or ever have seen it in the first place!

I’m tellin u right now, there was NO other child actor like Gary. He was absolutely great! That catchphrase was an accident. The line wasn’t type right it was typed as “Whatchoo” Gary said it just as written. He made the face and said the line and the rest is history.
@slipnorris58823 жыл бұрын
he created it, he should had a patent on that
@ghanasoul3 жыл бұрын
@@slipnorris5882 The delivery, Gary created. Not the line. It’s like Jimmie Walker’s “Dy-no mite” catchphrase. The line was written as “dynamite”. Jimmie added his take on it and said “DYNOMITE”. A writer taught him how to do the bit where he claps his hands and rhymes b4 he says the line and the rest is history.

@@slipnorris5882 not true. In those days scripts were typed on type writers. The line was typed as “Whatchoo talkin’ bout Willis” Gary delivered it the way it was written. It got a big laugh. Gary added the face to go with the delivery and it was catchphrase. They made sure he said it in every episode.

Nobody: Not a single soul: Not even Mr. Drummond Arnold: *Whatchoo talkin' about?*
The Originals of that catch phrase is fascinating. The original script was a typo. They meant to put "What are you talking about" but they typed in "What you talking about" Gary Coleman always stuck to the script word for word so he said that line word for word... The line stuck and of course became the biggest catch phrase of the series...
