Most radio shows ARE archived now as well!

Hi Chris, thanks for the video. We have an Internet Radio show and it is archived just like podcasts.

A lot has changed since 2013, now some internet radio stations have something called Auto Dj that plays your content playlist 24/7 so of course when you yo live the playlist stops but it automatically continues when you are done with your live broadcast.

So any radio broadcast should really double as a podcast, then, so that it can be heard by a greater number of listeners. Correct?
@ChrisCurran4 жыл бұрын
Correct, but they should be careful about including (or not) any copyrighted materials in the podcast episodes depending on their rights/permission, etc.

@@ChrisCurran thank you kindly. And forgive my curious pestering, but what of common use material such as sound bytes from the news or KZbin video? Can the audio from these be used without breaking any rules? And speaking of audio, it certainly seems that most "radio" programs today are nonetheless recorded on video. Is this also necessary for reaching a maximum audience?

@@Reaction_60 I don't know all the answers to all your questions, and you're asking for way too much info than I can provide here. Please continue your search of other videos for answers.

I want to start a podcast, but i also want to take calls live. I plan on doing 3 podcasts a week and 1 of those 3 weekly I want to take live calls. Is this possible?
@ChrisCurran6 жыл бұрын
Hi! So there are many ways... You could use a platform like BlogTalkRadio which has the ability to take calls built into it. You could buy a digital hybrid, hook it up to a phone line and your mixer and take calls that way. You could have a dedicated computer running Skype and get a Skype number so folks could Skype you via a phone number or Skype's VOIP. You could use a Mac computer, get Audio Hijack and Loopback apps and answer Skype calls and record within one computer. Also, there are probably other platforms like BlogTalkRadio which can do it too. Hope this helps!

So Blog Talk Radio is both, because the past shows are archived, after they air live..
@FractalRecording9 жыл бұрын
Well, kind of. Technically a podcast is subscribable via an rss feed, and usually available in podcast directories like iTunes and Stitcher. I dont believe that archived Blog Talk Radio episodes satisfy either of those. These days many people use the word podcast when they're referring to audio.

Fractal Recording Yeah, I'm just trying to clarify the difference. I run a a show on Blog Talk called 'Coach Cafe Radio', www.coachcaferadio.com , and after about 4+ years of doing the show, I've noticed that a lot of them, 30 or so , are now appearing in ITunes as a free download. I'm trying to figure out if there's an advantage to converting the archived shows to podcasts, and whether that'll give me more control over them...
@FractalRecording9 жыл бұрын
Stephen Minion Cool... If you never created an RSS feed, hosted your MP3's on a media server, and then submitted the feed to iTunes, I have no idea how any of your episodes are showing up in there. iTunes is just a podcast directory where folks can discover/find your show and subscribe to it - so when you release a new episode they get notified.
@smcurly29 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming it's because they're archived on Blog Talks site; that's the reason they're suddenly appearing on ITunes. Though the CC website I built is Wordpress based, and RSS might be automatic. I'll have to look into it more. Thanks for your input and help, I appreciate it.

Spreaker does the same thing with episodes archived. I convert audio to MP3 upload to Spreaker account, tag and do a show summary..add art and post. I then take Spreaker link and post it on FB pages I manage. Spreaker counts listener hits for me.
