Brother, the term Syrian means Assyrian historically, after the modern country of Arab Syria was created the term was changed to Syriac” Syrians historically referred to western Assyrians as the term “Syria” is clearly a shorted form of Syria which comes from the Latin “suria” and Greek “assuria” coming from the Akkadian Assur. Also we Assyrians never were ruled by Akkadians, we are those Akkadians, when Akkadian empire fell, it split into Assyria and Babylon, also modern day Assyrians are synonymous with the term “Mesopotamia” this making them also both descend of Sumer and Akkad. The term “suraya” which is shorten of the Akkadian “assuraya” this happened during Neo Assyrian empire btw this.

Also “aramean” was never an ethnic group, they called themselves suraya. Which is why Roman’s called them Syrian also the term Syria comes from Luwian much older then Rome sources. It’s just a term people used to refer to Assyrians from levant.
