Difference Between Chromebook and Android Tablet

I think chromebooks are better than Samsung S range tablets. Chromebooks are like tablets but with a keyboard, it's cheaper as well. It does 90 percent of what windows can do and really mimics that. I think chrome os is similar to samsung os, both virus free. Samsung S range is more tablet first. You really can't do much with the Samsung S tablet, yes it has a detachable keyboard but still feels like a tablet. Chromebooks are also cheaper than samsung. The 14 inch chromebook with keyboard attached is very light weight

most chrome books have a worse display than Samsung Tab S Series, less functionality, less portable, less powerful than Tab Ultras, Chromebook requires cloud access while Tab has huge local storage especially with added MicroSD, most chromebooks require Wi-Fi while most Tabs have mobile data and Wi-Fi capability. Everything always boils down to individual needs and use case, but I definitely think Tab S + included S pen is waaaay better when you also consider all chrome books 1) aren't touchscreen and 2) don't accept pen and or stylus input.

Honestly, the only advantage Chromebooks have is they have many games that you wouldn’t be able to play on other devices due to apps on Chromebooks basically being websites you can download.

Have you tried running an Android app on a chromebook. The ones that I have tried do not run good enough to be usable.

Well, I guess I understood this. But outside of the Linux terminal, are there any really benefits when you use ChromeOS vs android in something like Samsung DeX?

Linux and Android are two particular strengths of ChromeOS. I run mapping and navigation apps on Android and the same apps on Chromebook. Mapping apps that work on Android mostly run flawleesly on my 1920x1200 Chromebook screen. I can prepare trips on the Chromebook and see exactly what the route will look like on the Android machine. Some apps keep everything in the cloud, so that I can then view them on Chromebook or phone. You can install linux apps and then be able to run them from the ChromeOS menu. The most frustrating thing is that Play Store sometimes says an android app is not available for Chromebook. I think just happens because people cannot be bothered checking. Note Chromebooks do not (normally) have GPS receivers like tablets (normally) do.

You can use Google maps on Chromebooks because of the play store. But for all of that why not just get a table for using Google maps.

I have a question. I'm 61 year old amature photographer who does almost all of my editing on my phone using Lightroom Mobile and Snapseed. My eyes aren't what they used to be and I want to continue using these app, but on a larger format device. This is all that I want. nothing more or less. That's it. Is a Tablet the best device for my needs? And thanks for this video.

Chromebook is more promised and normal to use with physical keyboard. If you don't need physical keyboard then table is the better chose. Same or equaling price with less weighted and compact machine.

If you feel comfortable on a keyboard then I think chrome is better than a tablet.

You missed the biggest and probably most important difference between the 2. Chromebooks are cloud storage based while tablets are mostly local storage based. Therefore most chromebooks REQUIRE wifi unless mobile data enabled. Im definitely sure more people have a carrier data plan on their tablet vs chromebook. And also ALL ANDROID TABS CAN RUN GOOGLE CHROME. As a matter of fact, it can be made the defauklt browser easily. Im kinda skeptical of your Android tab experience.

Using the Pixel Slate as a ChromeOS tablet. I love that thing, but it would be nice to have widgets. But what I really wish Google would do is replace the awful ChromeOS onscreen keyboard with GBoard. In ChromeOS, you can install other keyboards, but you can't use them.
