With the growing threat to be replaced by company distributors and start-ups like Udaan, the distributors are losing their high negotiation powers. Therefore, in an attempt to not lose a retailer as a client they have started taking the stock back from retailers. Also, when they take stock back from retailers the even return it to companies, so in most cases the loss is usually borne by the company only. We hope this addresses your doubt.
