Hello. 10/5 and 20/4 are both rational numbers. That's because both numerator and denominator are integers...So although these 2 rational numbers can be further simplified to get natural numbers, they are rational numbers also. Even natural numbers like 1 is a rational number because it can be written as 1/ 1 which is a rational.so, every natural number, whole number, every integer is a rational number. Hope above helps. No. A fraction can have a negative number.

By defination, numerator and denominator of fractions can only be whole numbers,hence they cannot be negative....in case you subtract 2 fractions and get negative answer,then the answer is no longer a fraction but a rational number..pls let me know if you have any questions....

​@@EnjoyMath I have been teaching that long plus, of course, I was a student. I've see your point elsewhere, and I've checked with math people who see it the way it says in Wikipedia. I don't think there is any reason not to think of negative numbers as fractions. What value is there to calling negative numbers not fractions? It's like the difference between whole numbers and integers, which is not of practical use in classes I teach. I guess it's used in number theory to advantage.
