Working as engineer in railways .....both uses air brake systems the only difference is how we apply the brakes in ICF we directly apply to wheels using brakes pads but due to disadvantages it has been replaced by axle mounted disc in lhb but compressed air is used in both....please note this point everyone.....thanks !!!! I don't know the theoretical difference but lhb coaches are much lighter in weight. While travelling we feel the immediate push by p7 engine whereby the coach accelerates within no time whereas in older coaches much time was taken to accelerate. Lhb is a boon for Indian railways. All older are being replaced by it. Also there is fast breaking mechanism in lhb coaches.
