In dead locos with CCB the lead and trail switches are placed in trail position on both control stands or in both cabs in case of dual cab loco

KE valve means C3W distributor valve. KE-6 valve works as a stand by valve when the train is operated with a CCB fitted loco. When the CCB is in working condition, when the BP pressure drops due to auto brake, it happens as per the co-action system. But when the CCB fails or the loco is made dead, when the co-action brake is applied in the loco, the brake is applied through the KE-6 valve, hence it is a stand by brake system.
