I've tried both Dinner and Supper. I have to tell you that they are different. Dinner is pretty good. It tastes good. Supper is pretty gross. It tastes disgusting. That's the big difference. If someone is going to serve you "Dinner" it is probably going to taste good. If someone is going to serve you "Supper" it is probably going to be pretty gross. That's the difference.

First off Thank you for this video... If I may share how I was raised (late 1960's small town Illinois) Mid-day meal at home ie 11:am - 1:pm = Dinner Last meal of the day at home; 5:pm-6:pm = Supper If at work or school... mid-day meal, 11:am - 1:30pm = Lunch A special occasion (A date) Last meal of the day 7:pm-8:30pm = Dinner Also; from about May 8th until October 18th = a treat on the porch at 9:pm ( ie ice cream on peach cobler... for example) If at home that day; Breakfast = 7:am-8:am Work or school; Breakfast = 6:am-7:am Mid morning snack= 9:ish Something along the lines of; Celery with cream cheese or cucumber slices. Coffee for the adults Sun brewed sweet Tea later in the day

British woman in another video says in some parts of Britain Supper is a big meal and in other parts it is a late-night snack. They also have brunch that starts between 9:30 and 11: am. They also have tea and high tea.
@atlantia4 жыл бұрын
In the UK we are now split on this, upper class would always call it breakfast, lunch, dinner, lower class called it breakfast, dinner, tea, and sometimes supper before bed, but times have changing and more and more are calling it lunch and dinner, I live in the north of England and many still call it breakfast, dinner, tea and supper. Tea is always served earlier, between 4 and 6 as this was when the husbands and children came home for the day and mostly served hot, Sunday tea was always cold due to the large Sunday roast dinner

makes sense pretty much. Growing up as a city boy from the ‘burbs, we always called Sunday lunch after church, “Sunday dinner”, whether or not we stayed at home and cooked or went to a restaurant. But the rest of the week, we still called lunch, lunch. And the evening meal wad dinner. My grandma used the word supper but yah with the evolution of language, we never did. I am intentionally trying to restart saying the word “supper”, however. Because, I very much enjoy the puzzeld looks that I get from it. And I take great solace in the secret condescension or snobbery that I think about when I see the puzzled look of a face who is either uneducated or does not read history or watch history videos often. I am talking about lifelong English speakers too. I am NOT talking about English as their second language speakers. But yah, supper!

I say breakfast. But living in the south it seems we alternate lunch and dinner. For example every Sunday after church we have a big Sunday dinner between noon and 2. Then later on around 7 we have supper. But any other day of the week its breakfast, lunch, and supper.

Breakfast (pre 11 meal). Brunch for those wake up late and have time to brunch with no pressure of work. Elevenses is for winnie the pooh and those who breakfast early and usually a light snack, Lunch large meal if not working - however for most working folks its a light meal sandwiches etc , Tea light meal approx 4 to 5 pm, Dinner largest meal, Supper light meal after 8, Midnight feast for greedy guts eating cold cut sandwiches after a sunday roast or a holiday dinner. Note Tea also means dinner in parts of Scotland and the north. Also Dinner can also mean lunchtime meal in Midlands
