Difference between Raft and Pile Foundation
Raft Foundation is a type of Shallow foundation and is mostly used for high-rise buildings. Raft Foundation transfers the load of the building to the soil at shallow depth.
Pile foundation is a type of deep foundation and used for bridge foundation. These are cylindrical columns driven into the earth by the Mat or Piling Rig machine. Pile foundation used in the building where the soil bearing capacity is very weak or below 23 kn/sqm.
