When the object is far the focal length increases because the lens become thin. And when the object is near the focal length decreases Because the lens become thick. And you taught complete opposite.

Sometimes concave lens r also converging when refractive index of the outer medium is more than the refractive index of the concave lens... For example air bubbles being convex behve like concave lens inside water as the R. I of water is more than that of air bubbles
