The food similar to takoyaki is called as "Paniyaram". It is typically a south indian dish except that takoyaki is octopus meat but the Indian version is vegetarian made with rice & black lentil batter.

I have been to Asakusa's Senso Ji Temple. The shops leading to the main shrine were selling a lot of souvenirs during the daytime. But they are more expensive than daiso or other local shops at Harajuku. With regards to food, it was so good! I personally like yakisoba and dango.
