@@WarezWally Because it is a "new, tech filled" form of trickling, and people will buy it just because. I have one of the cheap, plastic tricklers that came with the Hornady Lock N' load kit like Gavin shows here. It works ok, but I wanted something better, so I ordered the RCBS Powder Trickler-2. All aluminum with the weighted, adjustable height base and all. It is a nice piece of gear. And to trickle a couple of grains takes no time with a conventional rotating tube trickler.

I would (WILL tomorrow) use the Vibratory Trickler. Discovered today, after only a couple months use that the Lyman Gen6 Precision is a piece of junk while trying to weigh bullets. A shooting friend recommenced the Hornady G3 1500 Scale and my local Academy Sports had one in stock tonight.The vibratory trickler was right next to it, so I said "yep, could use that too!" Thanks for the video, I'll be ready to rock and roll in the morning.

Gavin, I bought on of these about 9 months ago to upgrade my system along with a decent digital scale and it works very well.. along with the throw you can get it close fast and accurate. As you said much easier with just a push. I recommend it if your aiming for the .002 zone loads and do not have the coin to dump in the Big Boys systems

I've been using this one for around a year and about 8 lbs of 4350, and I can easily drop one kernal of power. The dandy wasn't available when I bought the Horndaddy. I made a slight mod of bending the tube down about an 1/8 of an inch which made a huge difference in allowing me to easily watch and drop exactly 1 kernal. I'm using the sartorius entris balance which reads .001 of a grain which allows you to measure exactly 1 kernal of powder. I can quickly and easily measure each load to the nearest kernal of powder even though it probably isn't necessary to have that much precision, at least I know that my powder charges are a close as possible without cutting kernals lol. I reload for PRS matches.

I could see taping some heavy duty foil in the shape of a "v" under the tube's end that's roughly 2" long, then cut to a fine point, as a way to even fine tune this even more.

If I’m running large lots, given the 3 choices, I’m going with the quick trickler. If I’m doing small lots. I’m obviously going with the cheapest thing that works well. Electronic goodies are cool until they don’t work. First rule of maintenance, everything breaks.... some faster than others.
@KiwiShoot4 жыл бұрын
The thing I don't like with mine is the height. You've got a large scale, but for those with something smaller, it becomes a huge drop from the tube to the desktop. I use it, I just don't like it :-)

Could you splice in some video where we watch one kernel at a time drop out of the tube? Some useful measuables might be: 1) how many grains per second can it trickle when you hold the button down, and 2) can you add "just one more" every time, without dropping extra? Does it have an interface for an external controller to make it into an automatic trickler?

I saw this in my local gun store and almost bought one. Then I thought, I have a 3d printer, I think I can make one. So I did. I haven't used my Hornady manual trickler since. I don't have adjustable speeds on mine, it pretty much always runs on the equivalent of the slow setting on the Hornady. Like everything in this world, there's a small learning curve to become proficient with it. Once you do, it is a huge time saver. Not to mention repetitive turning of that tube on the manual one gets old. Great video! I've wondered how mine compares to the Hornady ever since I finished it. Oh and I've used mine for several months now, and haven't had to replace any buttons, switches, or even batteries yet, and I'll bet money my vibratory trickler is faster than any manual, and just as accurate.

As has been stated, the Dandy will drop 1 kernel of H4350 at a time, easily. Have no problem dropping .02 of TAC with it also. Can't remember what I paid for the Dandy but will buy again, IF this one ever gives up the ghost. Can nail my target charge every time. Maybe one day I'll step to the autotrickler for my A&D but my current setup gets the job done quite nicely.

I have an RCBS trickler but I rarely ever have to use it though since I use a Harrell powder thrower. That thing is wickedly accurate and costs a lot of money but it is the best thrower I can find. I know a lot of the benchrest guys that use it and like Harrell tricklers. They also have a portable version for making tuned rounds at the matches.

The electric dribbler is cool. if it could be paired with an electronic scale where you could make precise set points that would be even better. When the lights go out a hand operated dribbler and a mechanical scale and Lee dipper set would be the ticket. Promising the electric one seems.

I use this trickler since 2/19 in a set up similar to what you showed, just one difference, I use a Chargemaster Lite for the bulk. Once I get into a rhythm it goes super fast and the RCBS Lite puts me really close, so I have to trickle between 0.05 and 0.1g. The benefit over a manual trickler is the tube being longer and once you get the feel it is less prone to overcharge.

I have a question for you brother. Have you had any experience in using small rifle primers in place of small pistol primers with reducing the amount of powder in the load? Same question for magnum small pistol primers in place of regular small pistol primers and reducing the powder charge to accommodate the strength? With components obsolete right now it has me wondering if this can be done without blowing your face off?

I'd be worried about the latency of the button press and the actual kernels dispensing (after a long period of time/use, say several months). With manual tricklers between the finger tips you can really "feel" and know where to stop I find.
