The story of the MV, as I understand it, is basically a love triangle. Minho is in a relationship with the girl, but Taemin is also in love with her. They get into a fight, but are separated by the other members. Minho and the girl then get into the car. However, Taemin has (possibly) rigged the car, and it explodes/lights on fire, killing both Minho and the girl (this is why the guns were previously pointing at Taemin, that was him feeling guilty over having murdered his friend and the girl he was in love with).

storyline actually shows that Minho and the girl r in a relationship, taemin likes the same girl,he gets jealous of seeing them intimate in a couple of scenes.... at one point they both fight, which key tries to break up.... at the end Minho separates with them and tries to take the girl away but when he starts the car, it explodes and we see SHINee running towards the burning car.... Now the real question is not answered, some say taemin made the car explode, so the scene with many guns pointed at him is representation of his guilt..... some say it was key who made the car explode because he didn't want infighting between themselves because of a girl and also key is shown getting out of the intact car alone in one scene.... I don't know which is plausible, u can take it any way...

taemin did say that in the shooting of the car scene, it was intended that he lit the car on fire. (prob edited out) and taemin said he kinda felt bad/guilty about setting his minho hyung on fire. (uwu)

From what I understand, the lyrics of the song are about a relationship possibly in its final stages. SHINee are here asking what they can do to make the relationship work, to salvage it, to take the first steps to making things better. They want to make thing work, but they aren't sure how.

Thank you so much for taking the time to React to them especially since this month on the 25th it’s their 12 anniversary💜 little fact: this was the last korean comeback as 5HINee so the meaning is even more 🤍. So the song basically talks about how a relationship is coming to an end and they are wondering how to make things work again, while the mv reflects a love triangle (if it can Even be called that when Minho is in a relationship with that girl and Taemin ends up liking her, so he decides to kill them both), as you can clearly see, that unfortunately ends with deaths.

SHINee actually talked about the meaning of the video before and it is confirmed that Taemin made the car explode so to summarize in the video Taemin is jealous of Minho because he likes the girl, but the girl likes Minho or is already with him. Minho and Taemin fight about it but Key breaks it up (in the behind the scenes they showed both Jonghyun and Taemin fighting Minho but that didn't make the final cut) and then Minho and the girl leave but Taemin somehow makes the car explode in the end they all rush towards the car And the song is about a long term relationship and how it changes, how the relationship might be coming to an end and them asking what can they do to save it

I love this one. All of them show their vocals. 3 main vocalists change up and all get equal lines, key gets lil rap, lil vocal lines, lil high note, real triple threat as he is from day 1. Minho gets vocal lines, rap stance.. And I love live dance performance. I think Tae contributed to choreo on this one and. I loooove props. One of my fav songs to watch live and to listen to. I think this. Girl Minho is interested in, Tae is also, they fight, Key tries to break them apart, lyrics if you look up traspation iš self explanatory and Tae pulling up a gun in MV is a normal Tuesday for us. I'm not certain of what it means, but I love it so much that I don't care. Jonghyun, "the ultimate package of a man", and still my ultimate bias even though he's gone. I loved that guy. And BTW, they're aLL cute. And they can all sing well. Hope they do great when they're back from the military and performing again. Which will hopefully not be too long. What a collection of fine voices and dancers in some of my fave performances ever.

So to help explain what is happening in SHINee's "Tell Me What to Do" MV, the members are all playing a group of friends which also includes this girl. How I see the story is that they all have been friends with this girl for a very long time and Taemin has always been in love with her, but unfortunately, what you see is that she is in love with Minho and they are dating. However, Taemin is super jealous and his jealousy has gotten to the point where he can no longer hide his anger and disappointment -- that's why you see him acting kind of crazy and really angry. That's why you see him getting drunk and silently watching Minho and the girl with that seething, jealous look on his face. It is also why you see him crazily pick up that gun and wave it around like he is drunkenly joking with everyone and making bad choices. It's supposed to be about a group of teenagers/young 20-something guys hanging out together and partying in an abandoned warehouse or construction zone, etc. You see them having fun riding around in the car together, but if you notice Taemin is sitting there jealously watching Minho and the girl and wishing it was him who she was in love with. I interpret the floating guns as a metaphor, where Taemin is surrendering to everything and he is struggling to figure out how to cope with all his feelings, etc. You see Minho and Taemin get in a fight and Minho is essentially saying, "hey man its not my fault she is in love with me and not you ... you need to back off and get over yourself ... snap out of it ... what is wrong with you?", etc. So the song is called "Tell Me What To Do" because the rest of the members are pretty much saying "Tell Me What to do ... What should I do to fix this rift in our friendship and how do we fix it and go back to the way we used to be?", etc. Its a coming of age story about friendship and the things that can happen in someone's life that can cause a rift between friends. In the end you see Taemin drop the lighter and some say the lighter is what catches the car on fire and it symbolizes the end to their youthful innocence, but you also see Minho get in the car and it blows up. Some say Taemin is so Jealous that he blows up the car and kills Minho. it's definitely a darker concept, but you shouldn't feel too sad, because at this point nothing had happened with SHINee yet and it doesn't really have anything to do with this MV. Its only after the fact, that we now can give the story a deeper meaning. The only saving grace to this story is that we know that SHINee is too much of a close knit group to ever let something like this happen to them for real and, that in terms of SHINee, this story is so far from reality that this would never happen with their friendship. Once again this was a departure from anything we have ever seen from SHINee before and its unlike anything they have every done as a concept for an MV. But it was exactly sHINee-like in every way. You should really watch a video of SHINee performing this song live on a radio program called "Blue Night". The radio show was hosted by Jonghyun. He hosted the weekly radio program for 3 years. During "Tell Me What to Do" promotions the other SHINee members were guests on the show and Jonghyun had to do double duty that night as both host and guest. This was my favorite performance of "Tell Me What to Do," and not only are their vocals magnificent, but it also shows you a little glimpse into their goofy fun personalities as well. If you ever want to see the whole program or watch other episodes of Jonghyun's "Blue Night" radio show, you can find whole episodes on KZbin. He was a really great DJ and host and his radio program was really popular with listeners. This also is a great way to get to know Jonghyun better and to get to know his personality more because it was such an intimate setting and he really opened up to listeners and viewers and spent a lot of time just being himself on the show. We were all sad when he decided to end the program, but we understood that after 3 years he was physically exhausted, and he also was going to be even more busy with SHINee's schedule of concerts and promotions at that time, which meant he didn't have time for the radio program. Jonghyun spent 3 years flying back and forth from concerts and events overseas just to make it to the radio program every week because he loved it so much, but after time it started to become too much and he decided after 3 years it was time to call it quits. The only fortunate thing for us is that almost all Korean radio programs are also recorded so viewers can watch them live streamed online or watch videos after they have aired, so we can still watch episodes of his program online even years after it has ended and it keeps his memory and legacy alive.

Well, SHINee IS SM’s EXPERIMENTAL GROUP. Since debut they are referred to as a CONTEMPORARY BAND. Anything they release tends to be something new, fresh, something they or anyone else haven’t done yet. Interestingly they referred to Tell Me What To Do as a “ballad” title track. And as we can see it’s not the typical ballad we know.
