I got smart with my mama right before church one Sunday, and the next thing I know, my dad had snatched me up so quick, I thought I was levitating. 🤦🏾‍♀️ But my mama was a G when she wanted to be. I still think a teeny exaggeration here is only for Gen X parents. I'm Gen Z, my parents are Gen X (very cool, huh) I got whooped only if I did any real stupid (yelling at parents, breaking things, snarling), until I turned 12. Maybe, I'm just lucky, since my parents have already turned 50 by this point and they didn't feel like it, especially knowing how resistive I was even ready to catch dad's arm, yet the problem remains. The only annoying thing about Gen X parents - they are both overprotective and grumpy. They will find a reason even if there's none to not allow you to do something or to call you "a useless lazy dumb idiot" (which becomes more hilarious, than offensive, after ages) Not to say I became a bad disrespectful guy without any unnecessary beating, just the opposite... I love my parents and even after I'm yelling at them, misbehaving, even when it's their fault, I give up and come first to apologize, I know they're old and they shall not feel any guilt, be even a bit nervous at this age. An important note: after they turn 50... I'm in my 20's and I rather wish to receive a really bad whooping than to hear "come here, close the door, we need to talk" in the midnight...💀

My parents are 80 and 82.My dad inherited my grandfather's belt.My father never used it on us kids because he told us stories about his time with it thus we learned from his mistakes.The look was all it took to see the light .One time my mother beat my ass with a wooden Candies shoe because I was trying to make sugar cookies and was wasting food making a mess of something.Flip flops have nothing on those heavy 70's clogs.

In my country there was a tradition to talk to disrespectful children. It was called "vara de goiabeira", or guava tree branch... It's hard and relatively flexible. Made my lunch boxes, came to all my sports events helped me with homework, taught me how to drive but to his last day, I Never talked back at Daddy❤!
